  • Dolphins' Benito Jones: Stays with Miami

Jones re-signed with the Dolphins on Thursday. The nose tackle played in all 17 regular-season games and started 15 for the Dolphins in 2024, making 24 tackles (nine solo). Jones, who originally signed with Miami as an undrafted free agent in 2020, also started 15 of 17 regular-season games for Detroit in 2023, recording 26 tackles (13 solo), including 1.0 sacks. He should have a chance to compete for a starting job again in 2025.

  • Dolphins' Benito Jones: Plays 17 games for Miami

Jones racked up 24 tackles (nine solo) across 17 regular-season appearances with the Dolphins in 2024. Jones (back) was a full participant in Friday's practice and carries no injury designation into Sunday's game against the Jets. Jones suffered a back injury during the Dolphins' Week 13 loss to the Packers. He opened the week with limited practices, but he finished with a full practice Friday and is good to go for Sunday's AFC East showdown. Jones has logged nine tackles (three solo) over the seven regular-season games since the Dolphins' Week 7 bye.

  • Dolphins' Benito Jones: Working through back injury

Jones (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Jones suffered a back injury during the Dolphins' 30-17 loss to the Packers this past Sunday. Jones will have two more chances to practice in at least a limited capacity this week, but if he's unable to play against the Jets on Sunday, Da'Shawn Hand and Neil Farrell would be in line for an uptick in defensive snaps.

  • Dolphins' Benito Jones: Questionable to return

Jones (back) is questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Packers. Jones suffered the injury chasing a play during the second quarter, and it's unclear if he'll be able to return. Jones has 12 tackles (three solo) in 11 games this season.

  • Dolphins' Benito Jones: Moving to Miami

The Dolphins signed Jones on Thursday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. The 26-year-old defensive tackle is returning to Miami after spending six games with the Dolphins in 2020. Jones spent the last two years of his career with the Lions, appearing in 34 games (15 starts) and recording 38 total tackles, including 2.5 sacks, while also defending two passes. The Ole Miss product is now the newest addition to a Dolphins defense that's headlined by signings such as Kendall Fuller and Jordyn Brooks. Expect Jones to fill a solid role on Miami's defensive line this offseason.
