  • Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Quiet in preseason finale

Renfrow caught two of three targets for five yards in Thursday's preseason loss to Pittsburgh. The Panthers rested most of their starters and some key backups, allowing Renfrow, Jalen Coker and David Moore to take most of the WR snaps early on. Renfrow didn't show much Thursday night, but recent trade rumors regarding Adam Thielen perhaps offer Renfrow a path to some kind of role with Carolina early in the season. There's also a chance the 29-year-old slot specialist has to settle for a spot on the practice squad or is let go entirely before Week 1.

  • Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Practicing in full pads

Renfrow (hamstring) is participating in Monday's padded practice, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Renfrow missed over a week of practice and Friday's preseason opener against the Browns due to a lingering hamstring injury, but the veteran wideout now appears to be ready to handle practice reps without restrictions. After having spent the 2024 season away from the NFL, Renfrow inked a one-year deal with Carolina in April and is competing for a slot role in the Panthers' wide receiver corps.

  • Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Unlikely to play Friday

Renfrow (hamstring) is not expected to play in Friday's preseason opener against the Browns, Joe Person of The Athletic rpeorts. Renfrow is working through a hamstring injury and hasn't practiced since late July, but there's optimism that the veteran wideout will be available for the Panthers' second preseason game against the Texans on Saturday, Aug. 16. Renfrow's absence opens the door for wideouts further down the depth chart to get more reps on offense, including David Moore, Jimmy Horn and Brycen Tremayne. Renfrow signed a one-year contract with the Panthers in April after taking a season off in 2024.

  • Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Progressing but not practicing

Renfrow (hamstring) has resumed running but isn't yet back at practice, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports. Renfrow has sat out roughly one week of practices due to a tweaked hamstring, but Carolina appears to be taking a cautious approach to the veteran wideout's return. That caution seems prudent, given that Renfrow last suited up for NFL action in 2023. The 29-year-old slot specialist is competing for reps in a surprisingly crowded Panthers receiving corps.

  • Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Tweaks hamstring

Renfrow (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Per Gantt and Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer, Renfrow's hamstring issue isn't anything long-term, with the veteran wideout having told coach Dave Canales that he'd be able to play this week if there was a game. When healthy, Renfrow -- who last saw regular-season action in 2023 -- will look to secure a slot role in a Panthers WR corps that also includes Tetairoa McMillan, Adam Thielen, Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker.

  • Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Returns to NFL, signs with Carolina

Renfrow and the Panthers agreed on a one-year contract Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Renfrow will make his return to the NFL after taking a season off in 2024. The wide receiver most recently reeled in 25 of 37 targets for 255 yards over 17 games with the Raiders in 2023. Renfrow's best campaign came in 2021, when he caught 103 of 128 targets for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns with Las Vegas while appearing in the Pro Bowl after that season. The 29-year-old is a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina native and attended Clemson for college, so he'll now be looking to get his career back on track with what is effectively his hometown team in 2025.

  • Hunter Renfrow: Cut loose by Las Vegas

The Raiders will release Renfrow on Wednesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports. The move will open up $8.21 million in cap space for the Raiders in 2024 and was seen as an inevitability unless Renfrow agreed to a large paycut. He caught 103 passes for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns in 2021 -- his third NFL season -- but then had only 585 yards in 27 games the past two seasons after signing a two-year, $32.33 million extension. He made it through the first season of the extension, but he'll now become a free agent a few months after his 28th birthday. Meanwhile, the Raiders have Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker atop their depth chart at wide receiver, with the latter having replaced Renfrow in the No. 3 role at times during the 2023 season.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Catchless over last four games

Renfrow, who didn't catch a single pass throughout the Raiders' final four games, ended the 2023 season with 25 total receptions for 255 yards on 37 targets in 17 contests. Renfrow's otherwise disappointing 2023 campaign was highlighted by a three-game stretch between Weeks 11 and 14 in which he posted a 12-126-0 line on 14 targets, but he promptly saw his playing time dwindle thereafter in favor of rookie Tre Tucker's development behind fellow wideouts Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. If the team is unable to find a trade partner for Renfrow this offseason, the 28-year-old slot receiver could be a release candidate at a $5.5 million dead cap expense, which would save the Raiders about $8.2 million in cap space.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Not targeted in loss

Renfrow was not targeted in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Colts. Renfrow has played 12 or less snaps in back-to-back games with rookie Tre Tucker assuming the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. Renfrow hasn't recorded a single reception since posting a 3-46-0 line Week 14 against the Vikings, and he figures to continue losing playing time to Tucker versus the Broncos in the upcoming regular season finale.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Another catchless outing

Renfrow was targeted once in Monday's 20-14 win over the Chiefs, but he finished the contest without a reception. Renfrow wasn't alone in posting an underwhelming receiving line for the Raiders on Monday, as quarterback Aidan O'Connell completed just nine passes all game. Renfrow has been held without a single catch in back-to-back tilts, and he's likely to play behind Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker again Week 17 against the Colts.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Targeted twice on TNF

Renfrow was unable to haul in either of his two targets in Thursday's 63-21 win over the Chargers. Renfrow not only failed to contribute to the Raiders' 63 points, but he also played fewer offensive snaps (27) than fellow wide receiver Tre Tucker (29), who caught three passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Renfrow will continue to compete with Tucker for playing time behind Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in Week 16 against the Chiefs.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Costly fumble in Sunday's loss

Renfrow caught three of five targets for 46 yards in Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Vikings. The veteran slot receiver finished second on the Raiders in receiving yards, but Renfrow also may have cost his team the game -- on Las Vegas' first possession of the second half, he caught a receiver screen and fumbled the ball after a big hit, ending the Raiders' only trip into the red zone. Renfrow has seen a more consistent role in the game plan since Josh McDaniels was fired, but he still has yet to catch a TD or reach 50 yards in a game heading into a Week 15 clash with the Chargers.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Stays involved offensively

Renfrow corralled all four of his targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Chiefs. Renfrow followed up his five-catch performance against Miami with four more grabs Sunday. The veteran slot man had failed to surpass two receptions over his first 10 games this season, which seemed to be directly linked to the signing of Jakobi Meyers this past offseason. Davante Adams and the aforementioned Meyers are still ahead of Renfrow in terms of depth chart order and target shares, leaving the 28-year-old with minimal fantasy value when Las Vegas returns from the bye to face Minnesota on Dec. 10.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Notches two receptions in victory

Renfrow caught two passes for 32 yards on three targets in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Giants. Renfrow's pair of receptions came on back-to-back plays in the second quarter to set up a two-yard touchdown rush for Josh Jacobs, giving the Raiders a two-score lead. Renfrow would ultimately log just 13 offensive snaps, however, while rookie Tre Tucker earned more playing time behind fellow receivers Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers. Despite the departure of former head coach Josh McDaniels, Renfrow's role appears to remain limited ahead of a Week 10 tilt against the Jets.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Two catches on MNF

Renfrow caught two passes for 19 yards on four targets in Monday's 26-14 loss to the Lions. Renfrow was on the field for 28 of the Raiders' 46 offensive snaps as the team played from behind for much of the contest, but he was held to two or less receptions for the eighth consecutive week. If nobody's dealt ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, Renfrow figures to remain behind Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in the pecking order at wide receiver against the Giants in Week 9.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Catches pair of passes Sunday

Renfrow caught two of three targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 30-12 loss to the Bears. Renfrow was credited with a start Sunday, but he ultimately played fewer offensive snaps (24) than rookie receiver Tre Tucker (32). Fellow wideouts Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers also hogged 25 targets between the two, leaving Renfrow little opportunity to produce. Given his diminished role in the Raiders' offense, the veteran slot receiver won't have much more fantasy appeal in Week 8 against the Lions even if Jimmy Garoppolo (back) returns to the lineup.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Season-high four targets in loss

Renfrow caught two passes for 12 yards on four targets in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Chargers. Renfrow doubled his previous season high in targets with four looks from fill-in starter Aidan O'Connell on Sunday, but the former has caught just five total passes for 52 yards through the Raiders' first four contests. As the offense continues to revolve around Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, Renfrow's lack of significant production could continue against the Packers in Week 5.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Targeted twice on SNF

Renfrow caught two passes on as many targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 23-18 loss to the Steelers. Renfrow logged a season-high 37 offensive snaps despite Jakobi Meyers' return from a concussion. The slot receiver has earned only three total targets through the Raiders' first three contests of the season however, resulting in a poor 3-40-0 line ahead of a Week 4 matchup against the Chargers.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Chance to rebound with Meyers out

Renfrow could be poised for a larger role Sunday in Buffalo, as Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports that Jakobi Meyers (concussion) has been ruled out. Meyers was concussed late in the 17-16 Week 1 win over the Broncos after catching nine of 10 targets for 81 yards and two touchdowns, while Renfrow wasn't targeted in that game. Vegas doesn't have much depth at wide receiver, so Meyers' absence should lead to more opportunities for Renfrow in the slot while No. 4 receiver DeAndre Carter could step in on the outside opposite Davante Adams. "Jakobi's a really good football player and, so, if he's not available then everybody has to step up and give themselves great opportunities to produce, and that's a good thing for them," coach Josh McDaniels said, per Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com. Considering Renfrow had a 1,000-yard season in 2021, his track record suggests he's the player most capable of stepping up for the duration of Meyers' absence.

  • Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Impressing in training camp

General manager Dave Ziegler said he's "seen a lot of good stuff" from Renfrow (shoulder) during training camp, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports. "It's been great to seen him feel great, playing great and ecstatic to see that development," Ziegler added. Renfrow was the subject of trade speculation earlier in the offseason and has barely been heard from this summer. He and Jakobi Meyers feel redundant as slot receivers, but the Raiders seemingly have a plan. Renfrow's fantasy startability is unlikely to return in 2023 if he's in Las Vegas.
