Buccaneers' A'Shawn Robinson: Gets one-year deal with Tampa Bay
Robinson and the Buccaneers agreed to terms on a one-year, $10 million contract Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Robinson was released by the Panthers on Tuesday, but it didn't take long for the veteran defensive end to find a new home, as he'll stay in the NFC South with the Buccaneers. He spent the last two years in Carolina and logged 65 tackles (21 solo), including 2.5 sacks, three pass defenses and one fumble recovery across 17 regular-season games in 2025. Robinson will join a Buccaneers defensive line that also includes Vita Vea, Elijah Roberts and Calijah Kancey.

Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Released by Carolina
The Panthers released Robinson on Tuesday.
Robinson had one year remaining on his contract, but his diminished production in 2025 is likely the reason he will be released early. The 30-year-old defensive tackle will now be able to seek a new contract once free agency starts Wednesday. Robinson is a durable, time-tested veteran who could strengthen the depth of many teams' interior defensive units.

Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Production dips in 2025
Robinson tallied 65 total tackles (21 solo), including 2.5 sacks, and three passes defensed across 17 regular-season games in 2025.
In the second season of a three-year, $22.5 million contract, the 30-year-old from Alabama remained one of Carolina's top interior defensive linemen, starting 16 of the 17 regular-season games in which he appeared. However, Robinson saw declines in several statistical categories compared to 2024, finishing with fewer total tackles (80 to 65), sacks (5.5 to 3.5) and forced fumbles (one to zero). Those dips are partially attributable to the return of Derrick Brown, and the additions of Bobby Brown (concussion) and Tershawn Wharton (hamstring) in free agency, as Robinson played 58 fewer snaps this season. He's expected to remain a crucial part of the Panthers' defensive line following the team's 2025 playoff run.

He's played 289 defensive snaps across eight games this season, recording 28 total tackles, including 2.5 sacks, and two passes defended. The veteran defensive lineman is expected to continue operating as Carolina's No. 1 nose tackle heading into the Week 9 matchup against the Packers.

Robinson is questionable to return to Sunday's matchup versus Atlanta due to a calf injury, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Good to go Sunday
Robinson (neck) is active for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
The defensive end missed the first two practice sessions of the week before participating on a limited basis Friday. Now, the 29-year-old will conclude a productive season in which he's played on at least half of the defensive snaps in all 15 games he's played. Robinson has 75 tackles (42 solo), including 5.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a forced fumble in 2024.

Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Won't return vs. Atlanta
Robinson (calf) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Falcons, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Robinson suffered a calf injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game, and the issue is serious enough for him to be sidelined for the rest of the contest. Jaden Crumedy will see more reps at defensive end with the first-team defense the rest of the way.

Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Could play in Week 18
Robinson (neck) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Falcons.
Robinson appears to be trending toward playing in Sunday's divisional matchup, as he upgraded to a limited practice session Friday after opening the week with consecutive DNPs. The 29-year-old has been one of Carolina's most productive defensive players this season, recording 75 total tackles, including 5.5 sacks, and one forced fumble over 15 appearances. If he's unable to play through his neck injury in Week 18, Jaden Crumedy is likely to see increased work with the Panthers' first-team defense.

Panthers' A'Shawn Robinson: Sits out practice to begin Week 18
Robinson (neck) was a non-participant in practice Wednesday.
Robinson was on the injury report last week due to a knee injury and an illness, but he now appears to be dealing with a neck issue. The veteran defensive end did end up playing this past Sunday against Tampa Bay, but he logged a season-low 50 percent defensive snap share, possibly due to the neck injury. It's not yet clear if Robinson will suit up Sunday versus Atlanta; if he doesn't play, Jaden Crumedy and Sam Roberts could be in line for an increase in defensive snaps.
