Player Outlook
If you doubted Henry as a 30-year-old in his first season in Baltimore, that was a decision you certainly regretted. He didn't miss a game, averaged a career-best 5.9 yards per rush, and delivered more than 2,100 total yards for the second time in his career. This puts Fantasy managers in a difficult position in 2025. Few backs reach 31 years old in the NFL, much less have an ADP in the first 15 picks at that age. Father Time is undefeated, but it hasn't knocked Henry out yet. We are being cautious again, and wouldn't suggest drafting Henry before the middle of Round 2, but if you play in multiple leagues it is probably worth reaching for him in at least one. There was no sign of decline from Henry in 2024. The only negative to his game is his lack of catches, which does make him less valuable in full PPR. In non-PPR, he's a first-round pick.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Rested for entire preseason

Henry didn't play at all during the preseason, Jonas Shaffer of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Neither did Lamar Jackson, Justice Hill, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman or Mark Andrews, among others. Henry didn't miss any time with injuries during spring practices or training camp, seemingly still going strong at age 31. His next game will be in the same location as his last one, with the Ravens heading to Buffalo in Week 1 after losing there in the second round of the playoffs. Henry took 16 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown in the loss, unable to approach his season-high total of 199 rushing yards from Baltimore's Week 4 home win over Buffalo.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Not in line to play vs. Cowboys

Henry is among the key Ravens players not slated to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Henry, who also didn't play in last Thursday's preseason opener, is no lock to see any action in the Ravens' Aug. 23 preseason finale, either. Ahead of Week 1, he's entrenched as a high-volume No. 1 option in a backfield that also includes Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell and Rasheen Ali.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Not playing Thursday

Henry and other key starters won't play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Colts, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. Henry didn't play at all last preseason and probably won't make an appearance this year. He's stayed healthy through the offseason program and the first two weeks of training camp, after signing a two-year, $30 million extension in May.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Gets two-year extension with Ravens

Henry and Baltimore agreed to terms Wednesday on a two-year, $30 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Henry had been slated to earn a $6 million base salary in the final year of his deal with the Ravens, but he now gets a new contract averaging $15 million per season over the next two years, with $25 million fully guaranteed. The 31-year-old rushed for 1,921 yards and 16 scores across 17 regular-season games after inking a two-year deal with the Ravens last March, with 19 catches for 193 yards (on 22 targets) and another two touchdowns through the air. As Schefter reports, Henry now carries the highest average salary in NFL history for a running back over the age of 30, with the deal reflecting the fact that against all odds, the bruising ball carrier has yet to show any signs of slowing down. In his inaugural season with Baltimore, Henry's average of 5.9 yards per carry ranked as the highest mark of his career, and he also set new career-best marks in terms of 20-plus yard carries (19) and rushes of 40-plus yards (five). Though he boasts less pass-catching upside than other top options at the running back position, Henry's explosiveness and offensive fit alongside Lamar Jackson will likely ensure his status as one of the top players off the board in 2025 fantasy drafts.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Wants to finish career in Baltimore

Henry said last week that he wants to finish his career with the Ravens, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports. Ravens coach John Harbaugh has already mentioned Henry as a candidate for an extension, after the 31-year-old ran for 1,921 yards and 16 touchdowns in 17 regular-season games during the first year of a two-year, $16 million contract. The two sides likely will discuss a deal that lowers Henry's 2025 cap hit ($12.895 million) without reducing his real-money compensation. He's currently scheduled for a non-guaranteed $6 million base salary and a $1 million roster bonus (due on the fifth day of the 2025 league year), plus $2.5 million available via incentives ($2 million of which he earned in 2024).

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Potential extension candidate

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday that the team will "look at" potentially extending Henry this offseason, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports. Henry is currently heading into the final season of the two-year, $16 million contract he inked with Baltimore after departing Tennessee as a free agent last offseason. The Ravens are now incentivized to restructure the deal -- which carries a potential 'out' for $3.9 million in dead cap -- and it's no surprise that the team would prefer to do so in the form of an extension beyond the 2025 season. Henry is coming off a phenomenal inaugural campaign in purple and black, having compiled 1,921 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on a career-high 5.9 yards per carry across 17 games, in addition to a 19-193-2 receiving line. The 31-year-old was also productive in the Ravens' two playoff games, carrying 42 times for 270 yards and three touchdowns. Henry hasn't shown any signs of slowing down, and as long as he's playing at an elite level, he'll remain an ideal complement in the backfield to dual-threat quarterback Lamar Jackson.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Solid showing in season-ending loss

Henry rushed 16 times for 84 yards and a touchdown and failed to secure either of his two targets in the Ravens' 27-25 divisional-round loss to the Bills on Sunday. Henry's opportunities were somewhat capped by a game script that saw the Ravens trail from the 8:52 mark of the second quarter on. The bruising back still managed to rattle off several chunk gains throughout the evening, and he punched in a five-yard touchdown run with 1:37 remaining in the third quarter to bring Baltimore to within two points for the first of two occasions in the second half. Henry proved a seamless fit in the first year of a two-year, $16 million contract with the Ravens, rushing for 1,921 yards -- the second-highest total of his career -- and 16 touchdowns at a career-high 5.9 yards per carry, numbers he complemented with a 19-193-2 receiving line across 17 regular-season games.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Cementing place in history

Henry rambled for 186 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 26 attempts without recording a target in Saturday's 28-14 playoff win over the Steelers. Henry posted monstrous fantasy numbers despite not recording a reception in Baltimore's convincing wild-card victory. The perennial All-Pro joined another tier of legendary tailbacks when he matched Hall of Famer Jim Brown for the most games with 150 rushing yards and two touchdowns in NFL history, with that mark currently sitting at 13 regular and postseason games (source: ESPN Research). Henry could separate himself from the Browns' great in that specific regard if he can replicate those numbers in the divisional round.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Breaks Ravens' rushing TD record

Henry rushed 20 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns while catching two of three targets for 23 receiving yards in Saturday's 35-10 win over Cleveland. Henry broke legendary Baltimore RB Jamal Lewis' franchise record for most rushing touchdowns in a single season with his first trip to the end zone Saturday. The 30-year-old Henry accomplished the feat in his first season with the club, setting the new high-water mark at 16 rushing touchdowns. He also became the first player in NFL history with three seasons recording at least 1,500 rushing yards and 15 rushing scores. King Henry will look to keep his strong campaign going in next week's wild-card round against either the Steelers or Chargers.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Another elite rushing performance

Henry rushed 27 times for 147 yards and a touchdown and brought in both targets for 18 yards in Wednesday's 31-2 win over the Texans. Just four days after trampling the Steelers defense to the tune of 162 yards, Henry nearly matched the elite output in a victory over another AFC contender. The only true blemish on the bruising veteran's day was the fact he was dropped for a safety early in the second quarter. Otherwise, Henry was brilliant while snapping a four-game touchdown drought and pushing his rushing yardage total up to 1,783 for the season, the second-best mark of his career. He'll have a chance to pile up more yardage in the Ravens' regular-season finale against the Browns.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Subdued performance in Week 15

Henry rushed 14 times for 67 yards and wasn't targeted during the Ravens' 35-14 win over the Giants on Sunday. With Lamar Jackson throwing five touchdown passes, Henry was in the rare role of forgotten man on offense Sunday. The bruising back's non-descript afternoon was his first of under 70 rushing yards without a touchdown during his nascent but stellar Ravens tenure. Henry may have a tough time bouncing back in a Week 16 Saturday afternoon home matchup against the Steelers considering the quality of Pittsburgh's run defense.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Top DFS Play

The safest play on the slate may be Derrick Henry against the New York Giants. Henry should have fresh legs coming off the bye and has historically been his best the final month of the season. That would be something if he does that this year because he's already averaging 108.2 yards per game and a career-high 5.9 yards per carry. Oh yeah, he's tied for the league lead in rushing touchdowns. He faces a Giants defense that has surrendered 4.8 YPC to running backs and seven touchdowns to the position in their last five games.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Prolific rushing total in win

Henry rushed 24 times for 140 yards in the Ravens' 30-23 win over the Chargers on Monday night. Facing a defense that had ranked in the top half of the league in multiple metrics against the run, Henry ran roughshod throughout the night on his way to a robust 5.8 yards per carry. The bruising back crossed the century mark on the ground for the first time since Week 9 and for the sixth time overall in his Ravens debut campaign. Henry did go without a target for the second straight game after recording a catch in four consecutive contests from Weeks 7-10, but he's riding high going into a showdown Sunday afternoon against Saquon Barkley and his Eagles teammates that could serve as a Super Bowl preview.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Punches in 15th TD of season

Henry carried the ball 13 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 18-16 loss to the Steelers. It was Henry's lowest output since Week 1 from a yardage perspective, but he salvaged his day with a one-yard TD plunge in the second quarter. It was his 13th score of the season on the ground and 15th in total, the third time in his career he's reached that mark but the first since 2020. Henry has gotten into the end zone in 12 straight games dating back to his final game as a Titan last season, a streak he'll look to extend in Week 12 against the Chargers.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Thunders for two TDs in big win

Henry carried the ball 23 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns and caught his only target for 27 yards in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Broncos. It was another dominant performance for Henry, who has 11 rushing touchdowns and five 100-yard games through the season's first nine weeks. He blew past the 1,000-yard mark on the year with this effort, sitting at a league-leading 1,052 with eight games left on the Ravens' schedule. Henry seems poised for another big game in Week 10 against a Bengals defense he churned out 92 yards and a TD against in their first meeting of 2024.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Extends TD streak to seven games

Henry rushed 15 times for 169 yards while catching his only target for a 13-yard touchdown in Monday's 41-31 win over the Buccaneers. Henry was quiet in the first half but got rolling after halftime with bursts of 81 and 39 yards on the ground before putting an exclamation point on his night with a 13-yard receiving touchdown, which doubled as Lamar Jackson's fifth passing touchdown in Baltimore's latest stellar performance on offense. Henry has found the end zone in all seven of his games with the Ravens while rushing for at least 132 yards in four of the past five. The 30-year-old running back is showing no signs of slowing down and is likely to handle another heavy workload Week 8 against the 1-6 Browns.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Steamrolls Commanders on Sunday

Henry carried the ball 24 times for 132 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 30-23 win over Washington. The former Titan continues to dominate, scoring multiple touchdowns with 100-plus rushing yards for the third time in the last four games. Henry is well on his way to another rushing crown with a league-leading 704 yards on the ground through six weeks, and his 5.9 yards per carry would be a career high if he can maintain that pace. He'll look to keep rolling in Week 7 against the Buccaneers.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Saves best for last in OT win

Henry carried the ball 15 times for 92 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for four yards in Sunday's 41-38 overtime win over the Bengals. The star running back opened the scoring in the first quarter with a one-yard TD plunge, but Henry had minimal yardage until he took advantage of a tired Cincy defense to rumble 51 yards on his last carry of the day. The huge gain set up Justin Tucker for the game-winning field goal, a chip-shot 24-yarder in OT. Henry has 572 yards and six touchdowns on the ground through his first five games as a Raven, and he should see a hefty workload again in Week 6 against the Commanders.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Bulldozes Dallas

Henry rushed the ball 25 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 28-25 win over the Cowboys. He added one catch on one target for 23 yards. Henry entered the game with only 32 total touches across two games, but the Ravens relied upon him heavily due to maintaining a comfortable lead for the majority of the game. He turned in a vintage performance by tallying a pair of rushes of more than 20 yards, highlighted by a 26-yard touchdown run during which he broke several tackles. He also chipped in a 29-yard carry early in the third quarter that was highlighted by a stiff arm on Caelen Carson. As his usage early on suggests, we shouldn't expect to see Henry earn this type of volume on a weekly basis, but he has proven capable of taking advantage when given the opportunity.

  • Ravens' Derrick Henry: Good use of opportunities in loss

Henry rushed 18 times for 84 yards and a touchdown and secured his only target for 12 yards in the Ravens' 26-23 loss to the Raiders on Sunday. Henry's afternoon was highlighted by a 29-yard run, and he grinded out 55 yards on his other 17 totes. One of those was a three-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, his second score in as many games in a Ravens uniform. Henry has yet to hit the 20-carry mark with his new squad, but he'll hope to take advantage of a Cowboys defense that surrendered four total touchdowns to the Saints' Alvin Kamara when he faces them in a Week 3 road matchup.
