Reeves-Maybin (back) is active for Sunday's divisional-round matchup versus the Rams.
Reeves-Maybin exclusively played on special teams in three regular-season appearances for the Bears, and he stepped in on defense during last week's wild-card win over the Packers. The 30-year-old helped fill the absence of starting linebacker T.J. Edwards, who suffered a season-ending lower-leg injury against Green Bay. The Bears signed Reeves-Maybin from the practice squad to the active roster Tuesday.
Reeves-Maybin joining Chicago's active roster coincides with the placement of T.J. Edwards (lower leg) on season-ending IR. During Saturday's 31-27 wild-card win over the Packers, Reeves-Maybin recorded two tackles (one solo) while playing eight snaps on defense and 20 snaps on special teams. With Edwards now unavailable, Reeves-Maybin could be in line for an expanded role on defense during Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Rams.

Lions' Jalen Reeves-Maybin: Set for free agency
The Lions are expected to release Reeves-Maybin when the new league year begins, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Reeves-Maybin was limited to 10 regular-season games in 2024 due to a neck injury, but he still played a career-high 148 defensive snaps and remained a key contributor on special teams. He tallied 14 total tackles and will likely find a new home quickly in a similar role.

Reeves-Maybin (neck) was designated to return from injured reserve Thursday and was a limited participant in practice.
Reeves-Maybin had been on IR since early November due to a neck injury. The veteran linebacker is now eligible to be activated and to return to game action, though it's not clear if the Lions will make him available for this Sunday's game against the Bears. Reeves-Maybin had been working in a rotational role prior to his injury, topping out at 47 percent of Detroit's defensive snaps Week 3 against Arizona. He could see more work upon his eventual return, though, given the rash of injuries to the team's linebacker corps.
