Hekker and the Vikings agreed to terms on a contract Tuesday, Lindsey Young of the team's official site reports.
Hekker is a four-time Pro Bowler, though he most recently earned that honor in 2017. He punted for Tennessee last season and averaged 46.8 yards per kick, which ranked 20th in the league among players with at least 25 punts. With Minnesota, he'll replace Ryan Wright, who signed with the Saints earlier in March.

The Titans are slated to sign Hekker to a one-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hekker will be reunited with Titans' special-teams coordinator John Fassel, with whom he worked with on the Rams back in 2012. Hekker spent the last three seasons in Carolina, and he finished the 2024 regular season averaging 45.7 yards per punt and landing 32.9 percent of his kicks inside the 20-yard line.

It's not clear why exactly Hekker wasn't able to practice Wednesday, but in any case, his availability for Week 18 appears to be in danger. He'll likely need to get back to practice Thursday or Friday to give himself a chance to play Sunday.

Panthers' Johnny Hekker: Restructures contract

The Panthers announced Wednesday that they've restructured Hekker's contract to save $792,000 in cap space, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Hekker signed a three-year, $7.6 million deal with the Panthers last offseason and didn't disappoint during the 2022 campaign. He averaged 48.5 yards per punt and recorded 39 punts inside the 20-yard line.
