Shane Lechler: Announces retirement
Lechler officially retired from the NFL on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chroniclereports.
The former Texans and Raiders punter evidently celebrated his retirement at a party attended by numerous former and current NFL players, confirming the 42-year-old would be hanging up his cleats. The seven-time Pro Bowler and nine-time All-Pro could join Ray Guy as the only other punter in the Hall of Fame when he's eligible.

Shane Lechler: Waived by Texans
Lecher was waived by Houston on Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Lecher, a seven-time Pro Bowler, ranked second in the league in average yards per punt (49.0) last year. Cut by the Texans and entering his 19th season in the NFL, it's conceivable that another team could take interest in the 41-year-old as solid option on special teams.

Texans' Shane Lechler: Back with Houston on one-year pact
Lechler re-signed Thursday with the Texans on a one-year contract, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Lechler, 41, will return for his 19th NFL season after ranking second and 10th in the league in average yards per punt (49.0) and net yards per punt (41.3), respectively, during the 2017 campaign. A seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time first-team All-Pro, Lechler has been the premier punter of his generation and is showing no signs of slippage during the tail end of a brilliant career.
