If Thomas clears waivers the Jets will likely add the 6-foot-3, 286-pound fullback to their practice squad. The 2016 undrafted free agent played in 17 games with Gang Green in 2016-17, predominantly seeing usage as a blocker.

Thomas (concussion) did not practice Monday and has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Buffalo, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
Had the Jets not been on a short week, there's a small chance Thomas would have been benefited from the extra time and been available for a Sunday contest. With Thomas out, the Jets will lean more heavily on the shoulders of Leonard Williams and Kony Ealy in Week 9 action.

Just a day after head coach Todd Bowles originally said that Thomas would miss "at least a couple weeks" with a torn labrum, Thomas was placed on injured reserve, so the timetable for his return is still up in the air. Sheldon Richardson and Jarvis Jenkins will likely see an increase in snaps with Thomas out. Jeremy Ross was signed Thursday to the team's open roster spot.
