Rangers' Cody Freeman: Not in Wednesday's lineup
Freeman is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Twins on Wednesday.
Freeman will be on the bench for the beginning of Wednesday's game while Ezequiel Duran starts at second base and bats sixth. Freeman has gone 15-for-62 (.242) with one steal, six runs, two homers and nine RBI since Sept. 1.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Could finish season at 2B
Freeman started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Minnesota.
Freeman made a sixth consecutive start at second base and could finish out the regular season there as the primary starter, after the Rangers announced Marcus Semien (foot) was being shut down. Freeman has gone 4-for-19 with a home run, three RBI and a stolen base during his six-start run.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Returns to lineup Tuesday
Freeman started at second base and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a steal and a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to Houston.
Freeman was back in the starting lineup after coming off the bench for the series opener Monday. He had started seven consecutive games prior to Monday. The stolen base was his first and the homer his third of the season. Freeman is slashing .229/.253/.386 over 27 contests and should continue to get opportunities with Marcus Semien (foot) on the shelf.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Idle for series opener
Freeman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.
After going 7-for-25 (.280 average) with two doubles and three RBI while starting in each of the last seven games, Freeman will get a breather for the series opener in Houston. Dylan Moore will get the nod at second base at Freeman's expense.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Plays role in comeback
Freeman started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a double in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mets.
After leading off the top of ninth inning with a single, Freeman was replaced by a pinch runner (Dustin Harris) that eventually scored the game-winning run. The start at second base was the fourth consecutive for Freeman, who has been part of the rotation replacing an injured Marcus Semien (foot), which includes Dylan Moore and Ezequiel Duran. Freeman has also helped out in right field due to Adolis Garcia (quadriceps) being on the mend. Since being called up to Texas in August, Freeman's slashed .235/.254/.353 with two home runs, nine RBI and eight runs scored over 20 games.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Claiming third straight start
Freeman will start at second base and bat sixth Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Freeman will draw his third consecutive start at the keystone and appears to have at least temporarily emerged as the Rangers' preferred option at the position over Ezequiel Duran, with Josh Smith having shifted over from second base to cover shortstop in the absence of Corey Seager (appendectomy). Since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Aug. 17, Freeman is slashing .250/.282/.444 with two home runs, one double, two walks, six RBI and five runs over 12 games.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Swats second homer
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and a walk in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Diamondbacks.
Freeman has filled a short-side platoon role at second base since Marcus Semien (foot) exited the lineup, though he was in the lineup versus a right-hander (Ryne Nelson) in this contest. Freeman is batting .225 over his first 15 major-league games, adding two homers, seven RBI, two doubles, six runs scored and no stolen bases over 42 plate appearances. He'll need to find more consistency at the plate to carve out a larger role even with the absences of Semien and Corey Seager (appendectomy).

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Losing work to Jung at 3B
Freeman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.
Freeman will head to the bench for a second straight game with Gavin Williams taking the mound for Cleveland. He's capable of playing multiple infield and outfield spots and should have a regular role versus left-handed pitching while the Rangers navigate a rash of injuries, but his playing time against righties figures to be limited.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Clubs first major-league homer
Freeman started at second base and went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Saturday's 10-0 win over the Guardians.
Freeman started the Rangers' blowout in style in the second inning, when he took Logan Allen deep to left field for his first major-league home run. Freeman has started in five of the Rangers' past seven games, including three games at third base and one each at second and in right field. His utility should afford him plenty of playing time, particularly after the Rangers placed second baseman Marcus Semien (foot) on the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Poaching starts from Jung at 3B
Freeman will start at third base and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Royals.
Since being called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, Freeman has gone just 1-for-14 at the dish, but he will stick in the lineup for the fourth time in five games nonetheless. During that five-game stretch, he's made three of those starts against right-handed pitching and three at third base, where he could occupy the strong side of a platoon with the struggling Josh Jung until super-utility player Josh Smith likely gets pushed back to the infield once right fielder Adolis Garcia (ankle) returns from the injured list.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Recalled, drawing start Sunday
The Rangers recalled Freeman from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, and he'll start at third base and bat eighth in the series finale in Toronto.
Though he'll enter the starting nine in place of a resting Josh Jung, Freeman is unlikely to handle an everyday role with Texas. He previously went 1-for-7 with an RBI and two runs in four games during a one-week stay in the majors shortly after the All-Star break, but he earned his return ticket by slashing .429/.453/.800 with seven home runs in 18 games after returning to Round Rock.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Optioned to Triple-A
The Rangers optioned Freeman to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, Matthew Postins of SI.com reports.
Sam Haggerty (ankle) is back from the 10-day IL, so Freeman will return to the minors. Freeman made his MLB debut earlier this month and appeared in four games with Texas, slashing .143/.143/.286 with one RBI, two runs scored and a 0:2 BB:K across seven plate appearances.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Makes first MLB start
Freeman started at third base and went 0-for-3 in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers.
Freeman had his contract selected from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday and made his first MLB start. He's unlucky in that his first start in the show came against Detroit lefty Tarik Skubal (2.19 ERA, 2nd in MLB), but Rangers manager Bruce Bochy typically uses a right-handed batter at third base when facing a southpaw. With Josh Jung back in the minors, the Rangers' hot corner has become a rotation of Josh Smith against righties with Ezequiel Duran and now Freeman against lefties.

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Promoted to majors
The Rangers selected Freeman's contract from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Freeman has spent all season in Triple-A, where he owns a .315/.367/.494 slash line alongside 12 homers, 54 RBI, 60 runs scored and eight steals through 79 games. The 24-year-old has spent most of his time this year at third base, but he also has experience at second, shortstop and catcher. He'll presumably serve as bench depth while Sam Haggerty (ankle) is on the IL.
