Mariners' George Kirby: Rebounds with quality start
Kirby allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Saturday.
Kirby struggled against the Mets in the Little League Classic last weekend, but he rebounded well with a quality start in this outing. His usually impeccable control hasn't been present lately -- Kirby has walked multiple batters in six of his last eight starts, though he's still turned in five quality starts in that span. For the season, he's at a 4.05 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 97:26 K:BB through 95.2 innings over 17 starts. He's projected to make his next start at Cleveland.

Mariners' George Kirby: Struggles in neutral-site game
Kirby (8-6) allowed seven runs on 12 hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Mets in Sunday's Little League Classic.
Kirby may not want to stop by Williamsport again any time soon, as he had arguably his worst start of the season in this contest. He walked a season-high three batters for the fourth time this year, and the seven runs allowed also represented his most in any outing in 2025. That was enough to end his four-start winning streak. Kirby is now at a 4.22 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 94:23 K:BB through 89.2 innings over 16 starts. The 23 walks represent his most in any year of his four-year career, which is concerning given he's seen his lightest workload this season due to injuries. Kirby will try to right the ship in a home matchup versus the Athletics for his next start.

Mariners' George Kirby: Dazzles in fourth straight win
Kirby (8-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 1-0 victory over the Orioles, allowing three hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
The right-hander racked up 32 called or swinging strikes among his 87 pitches (57 total strikes) en route to his fourth straight win, and his eighth quality start of the season. Kirby has gotten into the win column in seven of his last eight outings, delivering a 2.42 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 54:11 K:BB across 48.1 innings during that red-hot stretch. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road this weekend against the Mets.

Mariners' George Kirby: Fans nine in victory
Kirby (7-5) earned the win over the White Sox on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over six innings.
Kirby had his swing-and-miss stuff working, as he racked up a hearty 19 whiffs and nine punchouts. The right-hander didn't give up any extra-base hits among the five knocks he allowed and fired a first-pitch strike to 17 of the 25 batters he faced. Kirby also recorded his third straight quality start and has posted six such outings over his past eight appearances. His 4.04 ERA is still well below his career norm, but Kirby has yielded two or fewer earned runs in nine of his 14 starts on the season.

Mariners' George Kirby: Sharp in Thursday's win
Kirby (6-5) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out six over six shutout innings to earn the win Thursday over the Rangers.
Kirby walked multiple batters for the third time in his last four outings, but he also came away with his second straight quality start. This was his second scoreless outing of the campaign. Kirby allowed 10 runs over 29.1 innings across his five starts in July, and he added a 33:9 K:BB in that span that suggests he's rounding back into form. The right-hander is at a 4.13 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 74:18 K:BB through 72 innings across 13 starts on the year. He is lined up for a home matchup versus the White Sox next week.

Mariners' George Kirby: Strikes out nine in win
Kirby (5-5) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win Saturday over the Angels.
Kirby rebounded from allowing four runs in each of his last two starts. He allowed a solo home run to Taylor Ward in the second inning, which was just the second homer Kirby's given up over his last six outings. The three walks matched his season high, however. He nearly got into trouble with the bases loaded and one out in the sixth inning, but he was able to fan Logan O'Hoppe and Luis Rengifo to escape the jam before exiting at 106 pitches (65 strikes). Kirby now has a 4.50 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 68:16 K:BB through 66 innings across 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Rangers.
