Top Braden Nett News

  • Athletics' Braden Nett: Back from IL

Nett (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list May 30.

Nett has recovered from an undisclosed injury and has pitched in two games since being activated. He cruised in his May 30 outing against Triple-A Tacoma, tossing three scoreless frames while giving up one hit and two walks and striking out two. However, Nett was knocked around in his most recent appearance Saturday, surrendering five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.

  • Athletics' Braden Nett: Shelved at Triple-A

Triple-A Las Vegas placed Nett on its 7-day injured list April 28 due to an unspecified injury.

After opening the season on the IL at Las Vegas due to a rotator cuff injury, Nett was cleared to make his 2026 debut April 25, when he struck out five over 3.2 scoreless innings. He may have suffered an aggravation of the shoulder injury in that contest, however, as Las Vegas deactivated him just three days later. The Athletics protected Nett from the Rule 5 Draft over the winter and added him to the 40-man roster, but he'll need to get healthy and pitch effectively over an extended period at Las Vegas before getting the chance to make his big-league debut.

  • Athletics' Braden Nett: Debuts for Triple-A club

Nett was reinstated from Triple-A Las Vegas' 7-day injured list Saturday and worked in long relief Sunday in the team's 4-0 win over Salt Lake, striking out five over 3.2 scoreless innings while yielding one hit and one walk.

Nett missed the first month of the season while recovering from a rotator cuff injury, but he looked sharp while piggybacking starter Mason Barnett in his 2026 debut. Once he gets fully stretched out, Nett should settle into a spot in the Las Vegas rotation, and he may not have to wait long before receiving his first call-up to the majors. Nett was added to the Athletics' 40-man roster over the winter after submitting a 3.75 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 116:48 K:BB in 105.2 innings at the Double-A level in 2025.

  • Athletics' Braden Nett: Missing in action

Triple-A Las Vegas placed Nett on the 7-day injured list March 27 with a rotator cuff injury, David Laurila of FanGraphs reports.

Nett boasts seven distinct pitches and mid-90s fastball velocity when healthy, but he hasn't yet made his 2026 debut for the Aviators. The 23-year-old righty logged a 3.75 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 116:48 K:BB in 105.2 innings over 24 starts at Double-A last year, split between the Padres and Athletics organizations, and was part of the package the A's received for Mason Miller.

  • Athletics' Braden Nett: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Athletics optioned Nett to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.

Acquired by the Athletics from the Padres in July, Nett ended up spending the entire 2025 season at the Double-A level between the two organizations, logging a 3.75 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 116:48 K:BB across 105.2 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander is expected to spend nearly all of the 2026 campaign at Triple-A but put himself in consideration for a promotion to the big leagues in the second half if he's able find early success in the Pacific Coast League.

  • Athletics' Braden Nett: Joins 40-man roster

The Athletics selected Nett's contract from Double-A Midland on Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The A's acquired Nett at the trade deadline as part of the return for Mason Miller. Upon joining his new organization, the 23-year-old Nett posted a 4.60 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with a 30:14 K:BB across 31.1 innings (seven starts). The team will ensure he sticks around a bit longer by giving him a 40-man roster spot ahead of the Rule 5 Draft, though he may need to show some improvement at Midland before being granted a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas, let alone the majors.

  • Athletics' Braden Nett: Heads to A's in Miller deal

Nett was traded rom the Padres to the Athletics on Thursday along with Leo De Vries, Henry Baez and Eduarniel Nunez in exchange for Mason Miller and JP Sears, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Nett has power stuff and has always missed bats at a high clip, but his control has typically been shaky. He had his best stretch as a pro in May and June, when he logged a 1.94 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 49:14 K:BB in 41.2 innings, although he walked nine in 10 innings over his next three starts. The 23-year-old righty has logged 18 total starts at Double-A in his career, so he could get a taste of Triple-A before the end of the year. If Nett is able to limit the walks, he could spend time next year in the Athletics' rotation.
