  • Orioles' Cobb Hightower: Lands with Orioles

The Padres traded Hightower to the Orioles on Thursday as part of the package for Ryan O'Hearn and Ramon Laureano, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. The Orioles also received Brandon Butterworth, Victor Figueroa, Boston Bateman, Tyson Neighbors and Tanner Smith in return.

Hightower, one of six prospects headed to Baltimore in the trade, has gotten off to a slow start in Single-A this season, slashing .239/.363/.314 with 21 RBI, 30 runs scored and seven steals through 40 games. The 20-year-old infielder will likely remain in Single-A with his new organization.

  • Padres' Cobb Hightower: Back at full strength

Hightower (hamstring) has gone 4-for-22 with two RBI and four runs scored over six games since being assigned to Single-A Lake Elsinore on April 30.

Hightower's season debut was delayed by a hamstring injury, but he looks to be back to full health. He's had a tough time finding his groove at the dish in his first taste of professional baseball but should see plenty of opportunities to acclimate at Single-A. The Padres selected Hightower with the 88th overall pick of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.

  • Padres' Cobb Hightower: Recovering from hamstring injury

Hightower is dealing with a hamstring injury and is expected to join Single-A Lake Elsinore later in April, Jonathan Mayo of MLB Pipeline reports.

He suffered the hamstring injury during spring training. Hightower reportedly had a strong showing during fall instructs after the Padres selected him out of high school with the No. 88 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.
