Orioles' Alex Hoppe: Baltimore-bound in four-player deal
The Orioles acquired Hoppe and right-handers Harrison Kreiling and Brock Moore from the Mariners on Monday in exchange for outfielder Taylor Ward, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Hoppe is the only big-league-ready arm the Orioles will receive in the deal, as Kreiling and Moore haven't pitched above the Single-A and Double-A levels, respectively. A 27-year-old righty, Hoppe reached the majors for the first time in April and compiled a 5.79 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB in 28 innings while working mostly in middle relief for Seattle. He'll likely slot into a similar role in the Baltimore bullpen.

Mariners' Alex Hoppe: Called up Sunday
The Mariners recalled Hoppe from Triple-A Tacoma on Sunday.
The rookie right-hander has spent the past month in the minors but will rejoin the Mariners ahead of Sunday's series finale at Texas. Hoppe has a 6.38 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB across 24 innings in the majors this year.

Hoppe has appeared in eight games for Triple-A Tacoma in 2026 and has not surrendered a run on four hits with a 12:3 K:BB across eight innings. The 27-year-old will look to build off his early season minor-league success when he makes his MLB debut out of the bullpen. After being acquired from the Red Sox in November, Hoppe was immediately added to the Mariners' 40-man roster heading into 2026. The 27-year-old righty has yet to make his big-league debut, but he could be a candidate to join the Mariners at some point later on in the season if he thrives with Tacoma. Hoppe split time between Triple-A Worcester and Double-A Portland in Boston's organization last season, logging a 4.55 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 73:34 K:BB in 61.1 innings.

The Red Sox traded Hoppe to the Mariners on Tuesday in exchange for minor-league catcher Luke Heyman, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Hoppe spent time with Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester in 2025, logging a 4.55 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 61.1 innings between the two levels. Now with the Mariners, Hoppe will claim a 40-man roster spot and presumably begin the 2026 season at Triple-A Tacoma, where he will be tested in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Tayler Saucedo was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
