Lagrange returned for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last week with a scoreless frame after missing almost three months with a right shoulder sprain. The righty averaged 100.3 mph and topped out at 102.1 mph during last week's outing at SWB. Lagrange will continue to throw to stay available as a potential bullpen option for the Yankees in the postseason.

Lagrange was diagnosed with a right shoulder capsular strain in early July and hasn't appeared in a game since. While the 23-year-old appears to be making progress in his recovery, it's unlikely that there's enough time left in the campaign for him to work his way back to minor-league action and then to a big-league call-up. Cashman didn't completely shut the door on that scenario, however, saying that Lagrange pitching for the Yankees this season is "possible but unlikely."

It's unclear whether this is a permanent move, but Lagrange's best chance to contribute to the Yankees this season is as a reliever. The hard-throwing righty has posted a 4.41 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 63:25 K:BB over 49 innings in 2026 at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that it will be "several weeks" before Lagrange is under consideration for the major-league bullpen, as he will have to go through a de-load period before being cleared for more frequent usage.
