Yankees' Brennen Davis: Back in action at Triple-A
Davis (undisclosed) has gone 3-for-14 with two home runs and three RBI in four games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Wednesday.
Davis had been sidelined for approximately two months due to the undisclosed injury before making his return to the Triple-A lineup. Once a top prospect in the Cubs system who saw his rise to the big leagues get derailed by injuries, the 25-year-old Davis has revived his stock with a strong showing in the Yankees organization this season. Through 27 games between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Somerset, Davis has hit .293 with 11 home runs and two stolen bases.

Yankees' Brennen Davis: On shelf at Triple-A
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre placed Davis on its 7-day injured list June 26 due to an unspecified injury.
A former top prospect in the Cubs organization who was the 2021 All-Star Futures Game MVP, Davis saw his star fade in recent seasons while he was slowed by several injuries. After being non-tendered by the Cubs over the winter, Davis connected with the Yankees on a minor-league deal and had seemed to restore some value upon getting cleared to join Double-A Somerset in late May. He quickly earned a promotion to Triple-A and had slashed .308/.415/.692 with nine home runs and two steals in 23 games between the two affiliates, but any momentum Davis might have made toward earning his first big-league call-up appears to have stalled. The 25-year-old exited a June 22 game after crashing into the outfield wall and was placed on the IL a few days later, with the Yankees having yet to provide further word on the severity of his latest setback on the health front.

Yankees' Brennen Davis: Receives MiLB contract from Yankees
The Yankees signed Davis to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Aram Leighton of Just Baseball reports.
Davis is a former top prospect who has had terrible luck with injuries, as he hasn't played more than 71 games in any of the last three seasons. He's still just 25, so Davis would appear worthy of a dice roll on a minor-league deal. The outfielder slashed .214/.359/.469 with 11 home runs in 47 games at Triple-A Iowa in the Cubs organization in 2024.

Brennen Davis: Becomes free agent
Davis was non-tendered by the Cubs on Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Davis was designated for assignment Tuesday to make room for top prospect Owen Caissie. Davis' standing within the organization took a hit due to a string of serious back injuries and he played only 55 games in 2024. He'll still be only 25 during the 2025 season, so if he can remain on the field he could revitalize his career.

Cubs' Brennen Davis: Designated for assignment
The Cubs designated Davis for assignment Tuesday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Although Davis slashed .214/.359/.469 at Triple-A Iowa in 2024, various injuries limited him to just 55 minor-league games (47 in Triple-A, eight in High-A). His 40-man roster spot will now be handed to top prospect and fellow outfielder Owen Caissie.

Cubs' Brennen Davis: Placed on 60-day IL
The Cubs recalled Davis from Triple-A Iowa on Friday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a left ankle fracture, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Davis recently returned to action at Triple-A after missing two months with a back fracture, but his season will now end prematurely due to his fractured ankle. The Cubs' decision to place Davis on the 60-day IL opens a spot on the 40-man roster for Jimmy Herget, who was claimed off waivers from Atlanta on Friday and will report to Iowa.

Davis (back) has gone 4-for-27 with a double, three walks, three runs and one RBI in seven games for Triple-A Iowa since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Aug. 27.
Davis missed just over two and a half months with a back fracture but is finally healthy again as the International League season winds down. Over 166 plate appearances with Iowa this season, Davis is slashing .212/.361/.470 with 10 home runs and one stolen base.

Cubs' Brennen Davis: Makes return from IL
Triple-A Iowa reinstated Davis (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.
He returned to the lineup for Iowa on Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and three RBI while serving as the designated hitter in an 8-2 win over Buffalo. Cubs' Brennen Davis: Sidelined to begin MiLB season
Davis won't join Triple-A Iowa on Friday for the start of the minor-league season and will remain at the Cubs' spring facility while he recovers from a minor undisclosed injury, Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reports.
Davis isn't expected to be headed for an extended absence, as Birch relays that the outfielder will stay in Arizona for about a week or two before reporting to Iowa. The 24-year-old was once viewed as one of the top prospects in the Cubs' farm system and was the MVP of the 2021 All-Star Futures Game, but an assortment of injuries has derailed his development over the past couple of seasons. Davis possesses a spot on the Cubs' 40-man roster, but his big-league debut doesn't appear to be imminent.

Cubs' Brennen Davis: Back in action in Cactus League
Davis (concussion) went 1-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI while playing seven innings in right field in Friday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox in Cactus League play.
Davis was placed in concussion protocol after taking a pitch to his helmet Feb. 27. He was reassigned to minor-league camp March 8 and will miss out on the Cubs' Opening Day roster, but his inclusion in the lineup Friday at least confirms that he's cleared the protocol. The outfield prospect is likely to report to Triple-A Iowa to begin the campaign.

Cubs' Brennen Davis: Goes deep Saturday
Davis went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and three RBI in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Giants.
Davis has struggled the last few seasons in the minors, which has diminished his prospect standing. The 24-year-old outfielder still has some upside from a power perspective, and while he'll likely start this year with Triple-A Iowa, he could push toward making his MLB debut this summer if he performs well at a lower level.

According to Birch, Davis' move to the IL is described precautionary after he experienced some discomfort on a swing in Tuesday's game against St. Paul. The 23-year-old outfielder has gotten off to a lackluster start to the season for Iowa, slashing .197/.316/.299 with three home runs and nine stolen bases across 187 plate appearances.
