  • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Homers, extends spring hit streak

Langford went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Thursday's spring game against the Athletics.

The Rangers put up a six-spot in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by Langford's three-run home run. It was the third round-tripper of the Cactus League for Langford, who also extended a hit streak to six contests. He's batting a robust .455 (10-for-22) with three walks and 10 RBI over nine spring games.

  • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Offseason work targeted obliques

Langford engaged in offseason workouts designed to strengthen his core and obliques, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Langford endured three separate stints on the injured list last year due to oblique-related issues. The outfielder attempted to address a repeat occurrence during the winter months. "I did way more like rotational stuff, like med ball type throws and rotational lifts, versus last year," the outfielder said. "I just had a better idea of what I was doing." Langford made leaps from his rookie 2024 season to 2025, increasing his OPS (from .740 to .775), OPS+ (115 to 127) and bWAR (3.9 to 5.6).

  • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Oblique injury not a concern

Langford (oblique) took his first live batting practice session of spring training Sunday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Langford was shut down for the final five games of the 2025 season due to a left oblique strain, but he's believed to have had a normal offseason. The 24-year-old will open the season as the Rangers' everyday left fielder, though he could occasionally slide over to center in place of Evan Carter when Texas faces left-handed pitching.

  • Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Option to play center field

Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Monday that the team is open to the possibility of using Langford as its center fielder next season, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Langford made 97 starts in left field and 36 starts in center field for the Rangers during the 2025 season and was graded with a plus-5 in Outs Above Average at both spots, per Baseball Savant. As things stand right now, the Rangers would likely use Langford in left field and Evan Carter (wrist) in center field next season against right-handed pitching. However, it's possible Langford will shift to center if the club is able to acquire corner outfield help or if Carter is injured. The right-handed-hitting Langford is also an option to play center field versus lefties when the left-handed-hitting Carter sits.
