The Rangers placed Langford on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain.
Langford made an early exit from Tuesday's game after aggravating a left side injury that has been bothering him for the past week, and the Rangers will now opt to shut him down for the remainder of the season. He'll finish his sophomore MLB season with a .241/.344/.431 slash line alongside 22 homers, 62 RBI, 73 runs scored and 22 stolen bases through 134 games. Billy McKinney was selected from Triple-A Round Rock to fill the void in Texas' outfield group.

Considering this is now the second time in just a handful of days that Langford has experienced side problems and that the Rangers were eliminated from the playoffs following Tuesday's 4-1 loss, Langford could be shut down for the rest of the season.

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Enters game as pinch runner
Langford (side) entered Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins in the ninth inning as a pinch runner.
Langford was held out of starting lineups Friday and Saturday due to tightness in his side. The Rangers believe running the bases wouldn't impact the injury as other baseball activities might, like twisting his body in the field or swinging a bat. However, Saturday's activity is a positive sign that Langford could return to the starting nine Sunday.
