Dodgers' Jack Dreyer: Escapes trouble for save
Dreyer allowed one hit and struck out one without being charged for a run over one inning to earn the save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Nationals.
Seth Halvorsen was sloppy in a non-save situation, and Dreyer subsequently allowed two inherited runners to score before ending the threat. Since the start of August, Dreyer has allowed three runs on eight hits and eight walks while striking out 17 over 12.1 innings. He has earned two saves and three holds with a blown save and a 1-1 record in that span. Dreyer is at a 2.88 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 67:20 K:BB through 56.1 innings this season, filling a versatile role in a bullpen that has dealt with a number of injuries.

Dodgers' Jack Dreyer: Converts save Saturday
Dreyer allowed a hit and struck out one over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Diamondbacks.
This was Dreyer's first save conversion of the year, and it came after the Dodgers reclaimed the lead following closer Edwin Diaz's second blown save in as many days. Over his last 20 games, Dreyer has covered 17 innings while allowing just three runs with a 22:7 K:BB. He's been steady with a 2.87 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 54:13 K:BB through 47 innings this season, adding seven holds and two blown saves while not seeing a lot of high-leverage usage. The left-handed Dreyer may continue to be used as a matchup specialist, but there's at least a hint of uncertainty in the bullpen hierarchy given Diaz's struggles since returning from an elbow injury.

Dodgers' Jack Dreyer: Won't go on rehab assignment
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Dreyer (shoulder) will not go on a rehab assignment and will be activated from the 15-day injured list when eligible June 1, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Dreyer landed on the 15-day IL in mid-May due to left shoulder discomfort. The extended rest appears to have been enough to warrant a minimum stint on the IL for the left-hander, who is tracking toward being available out of the Dodgers' bullpen for their series opener against the Diamondbacks on Monday. Prior to his injury, Dreyer posted a 2.08 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, three holds and a 24:6 K:BB across 21.2 innings.

Dreyer (1-0) was credited with the win against Washington on Sunday, walking one batter and striking out one in a hitless and scoreless inning of work.
Dreyer entered the game in the seventh inning with Los Angeles down three runs. He walked the first batter he faced before retiring the next three Nationals hitters in order. The Dodgers then scored four runs in the top of the eighth to put Dreyer in position for the victory. Tanner Scott had a 23-pitch appearance Friday and was presumably unavailable for Saturday's game. The Dodgers had to dig deep in this game, with Alex Vesia also not pitching and Kirby Yates being deployed in the seventh inning, leading to Dreyer getting a rare chance to close a game out. He's up to four saves this season and has added 10 holds over 64 appearances. He's also pitched to a 2.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 72:22 K:BB through 74 innings, and he's allowed just two runs with an 11:1 K:BB over eight innings in September.

Alexis Diaz put a runner on and got two outs in the ninth inning, but Dreyer finished off the game by getting Ryan O'Hearn on a flyout. All of the Dodgers' other top closing candidates had pitched in the seventh and eighth frames, allowing Dreyer to collect his second save of the season.
