Orioles' Dom Keegan: Claimed by O's
The Orioles claimed Keegan off waivers from the Rays on Saturday and optioned him to Double-A Chesapeake, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Keegan was DFA'd by the Rays on Tuesday, but he'll retain a spot on a 40-man roster upon joining the Orioles organization. The 25-year-old backstop has spent the entire season at Triple-A, slashing .185/.322/.298 with six homers, 23 RBI, 24 runs and six steals through 214 plate appearances. He'll move down to Double-A to begin his tenure with the O's, but he could reach Triple-A Norfolk at some point if his hitting improves.

Rays' Dominic Keegan: Sent to minors
The Rays optioned Keegan to minor-league camp Sunday.
Keegan played in seven Grapefruit League games but never got going at the plate, as he finished 1-for-11 with six strikeouts. He should return to Triple-A Durham, where he posted a .735 OPS with 10 homers in 69 games during 2025.

Rays' Dominic Keegan: Won't be part of Rule 5 Draft
The Rays selected Keegan's contract from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Keegan was a fourth-round selection in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft. The catcher reached Triple-A for the first time last season and put together a .241/.306/.429 slash line with 10 home runs and 36 RBI over 297 plate appearances. The pop was promising, but Keegan also struck out at a 30.6 clip with Durham -- a rate much higher than in his previous minor-league stops. If he can impress with the bat early in the 2026 season, Keegan could make his MLB debut next year.

Rays' Dominic Keegan: Sidelined with elbow injury
Triple-A Durham placed Keegan on the 7-day injured list with an elbow injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.
He was back to throwing by mid-March but opened the year on the shelf. Keegan is the best hitter of the Rays' catching prospects, but his defense is suspect and could limit his playing time in the majors. Keegan hit .285/.371/.435 with nine home runs and a 20.4 percent strikeout rate in 104 games last year as a 23-year-old at Double-A.
