Top Luis Curvelo News

  • Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Back in majors

The Rangers recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Curvelo was demoted to Triple-A earlier this month after giving up three runs (two earned) to the Mets without recording an out, but he'll return to the Rangers now that the big club will have to finish the season without Chris Martin (undisclosed) and Cole Winn (undisclosed). Curvelo owns a 5.50 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 18 MLB innings this year and will likely be limited to middle relief.

The Rangers optioned Curvelo to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

  • Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Promoted from Triple-A

The Rangers recalled Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Curvelo spent time on the Rangers' taxi squad in early June but never received a spot on the 26-man roster. He'll officially join Texas' bullpen this time, however, after logging a 3.26 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 40 strikeouts through 38.2 innings at Round Rock. The 24-year-old righty will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

  • Rangers' Luis Curvelo: On way to big leagues

The Rangers are expected to recall Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock prior to Friday's game against the Nationals, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Curvelo has put up a 1.64 ERA and 25:7 K:BB over 22 innings with Round Rock this season and will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. It's not clear what the corresponding roster move will be.

  • Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Optioned to minors camp

The Rangers optioned Curvelo to minor-league camp Wednesday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Curvelo received a major-league contract from the Rangers this winter even though he hasn't pitched above the Double-A level. He'll begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Round Rock after permitting five runs with a 6:3 K:BB across five frames this spring.

  • Rangers' Luis Curvelo: Gets MLB deal from Texas

The Rangers signed Curvelo to a one-year contract Wednesday.

Curvelo has yet to advance past the Double-A level, but he's netted a major-league deal after collecting a 2.57 ERA and 78:18 K:BB over 66.2 innings at Double-A Arkansas in the Mariners organization in 2024. While the 24-year-old could still begin the 2025 campaign back in the minors, it would seem he has a good shot to debut during the upcoming season.
