Reds' Andrew Abbott: Sharp in Sunday's win
Abbott (2-2) earned the win against the Astros on Sunday, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five across six scoreless innings.
Abbott made easy work of the Astros during Sunday's win, allowing just four baserunners while generating 11 whiffs on 85 pitches (55 strikes). He has not yielded a run in back-to-back outings and is up to three quality starts on the year, two of which have come over his last three games. Abbott will take a 4.47 ERA and 1.51 WHIP (across 46.1 innings) into his next start, which is slated for next weekend on the road against the Guardians.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Struggles with command Tuesday
Abbott didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing four hits and four walks with four strikeouts across 5.2 shutout innings.
Abbott set the Cubs down in order the first three innings, allowing just one single that was erased when Matt Shaw tried stretching it into two bases. Abbott battled his control over his final 2.2 frames, issuing a season-high four walks. He still managed to escape with no damage, throwing his first scoreless outing since Opening Day against Boston. Following a career year in 2025, Abbott owns a 5.13 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and underwhelming 28:19 K:BB over 40.1 innings this season. He's gone six innings just twice in eight starts and is lined up to next face the Astros at home Sunday.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Rebounds with quality start
Abbott (1-2) earned the win Thursday against the Rockies, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five.
Abbott turned in one of his best performances of the year so far, matching a season high in innings and punchouts. Thursday was only his second quality start and his first since his season debut, and it was also just the third time that the 26-year-old left-hander gave up fewer than three runs. Abbott still has work to do in order to improve upon his 5.97 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 24:15 K:BB (34.2 innings), and he could have his work cut out against the Cubs in his next scheduled outing at Wrigley Field.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Mauled by Tigers in no-decision
Abbott came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-8 win over Detroit, coughing up five runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out four.
Four of the six hits off the southpaw went for extra bases, including solo shots by Riley Greene in the second inning and Javier Baez in the third. It's the first time this season Abbott has served up multiple homers in the same game, but he's failed to complete five innings in three straight trips to the mound while surrendering a ghastly 16 runs (15 earned) in 11.2 frames over that stretch, He'll carry a 6.59 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 19:13 K:BB through 28.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Rockies.

Twins' Matt Wallner: On bench for series finale
Wallner is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.
Wallner will take a seat for the second straight day, this time against a right-handed starter (Brady Singer) after he had been out of the lineup for Saturday's 5-4 loss while southpaw Andrew Abbott opened the game for the Reds. James Outman will fill in as the Twins' starting right fielder in place of Wallner, who still appears to be locked into a full-time role despite slashing a meager .181/.272/.333 with three home runs and six RBI over 81 plate appearances to begin the season.

Abbott didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Twins, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out three.
The southpaw didn't have his best stuff, tossing just 52 of 97 pitches for strikes and managing only eight swinging strikes. Abbott left the mound headed for his third loss of the season, but the Reds were able to rally late to take him off the hook. He failed to complete five frames for a second consecutive start. Abbott will carry a 5.84 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 15:11 K:BB through 24.2 innings into his next outing, which is set to come at home next weekend against the Tigers.

Abbott (0-2) took the loss Sunday against the Angels, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out one.
The left-hander was never quite able to find his footing, holding the Angels scoreless in just one of his three innings on the afternoon. Sunday disrupted a three-start streak with at least five innings to open the new year for Abbott, who gave up a season-high eight knocks as well. Abbott owns a rocky 5.85 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB over 20 frames so far, and he'll also be trying to get into the win column for the first time this year in his next scheduled outing against the Twins.

Abbott didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Marlins, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts across 5.1 innings.
The Marlins scored both of their runs against Abbott in the fourth inning on a pair of groundouts. Abbott was in line to take his second loss of the season before the Reds rallied to tie the game in the ninth before winning it in the 10th inning. Abbott will carry a 3.18 ERA and 11:6 K:BB across 17 innings into his next start at home Sunday against the Angels.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Bounced by Bucs
Abbott (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings as the Reds fell 8-3 to the Pirates. He struck out five.
The big blow off Abbott was a three-run homer by Oneil Cruz in the first inning, and while the southpaw settled down from there, that was too much of a cushion to give Paul Skenes. Abbott tossed 55 of 88 pitches for strikes, and through his first two starts of the year he's managed a 3.09 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB in 11.2 innings. He'll look for his first win of 2026 in his next outing, which is set to come on the road next week in Miami.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Turns around rough spring
Abbott allowed seven hits and one walk while striking out four over six scoreless innings, picking up a no-decision in Thursday's 3-0 loss to Boston.
Abbott pitched in and out of trouble in three of his innings, but he matched zeros with Boston's Garrett Crochet on the scoreboard. The seven hits off the Reds' left-hander were all singles, four of which didn't leave the infield. It was an encouraging outing for Abbott, who had a shocking 11.72 ERA in spring training. He's become the team's No. 1 starter with Hunter Greene (elbow) unavailable and on the 60-day injured list.

Reds' Andrew Abbott: Another shaky outing
Abbott allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out five over 4.2 innings in Saturday's spring start against the White Sox.
Abbott made his sixth and final Cactus League start before taking the mound Opening Day against the Red Sox. The good news is that the left-hander upped his pitch count to 84 (52 strikes), and he was better than his previous outing when he gave up eight runs on eight hits and three walks over two innings. He finished the spring having allowed home runs in all six of his outings with an 11.72 ERA, eight walks and 28 hits, but 22 strikeouts over 17.2 innings.
