Brash picked up the save Sunday against the Rays, striking out one batter during a perfect ninth inning.
Brash took the mound in the ninth inning for a save opportunity as regular closer Andres Munoz got some rest after pitching three times in the last four days. It was Brash's second save in three games, and his third save of the campaign. The 27-year-old reliever has been outstanding in 2025, boasting a 1.16 ERA and a 35:12 K:BB in 31 innings pitched.

Mariners' Matt Brash: Collects second save
Brash struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Rays.
Andres Munoz had worked Wednesday and Thursday, so Brash got the call for the save opportunity and mowed down Tampa Bay's 2-3-4 hitters on 19 pitches (10 strikes). Brash missed the first month-plus of the season while completing his recovery from a hybrid Tommy John surgery/internal brace procedure on his elbow performed in May 2024, but since getting back on the mound he's been almost untouchable, posting a 1.20 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB over 30 innings. Munoz's numbers are also elite as the team's closer, but Brash's presence gives the M's perhaps the best high-leverage duo in the league.

Brash retired the only two batters he faced to earn a hold in Saturday's 15-7 win over Detroit. He didn't record a strikeout.
The hold was the 10th of the season for Brash, who has thrived as a setup man after beginning the year on the injured list while recovering from 2024 Tommy John surgery. The hard-throwing right-hander appears to be the next man up for save opportunities on occasions where closer Andres Munoz may be unavailable. Through his first 20.2 innings, Brash boasts a 0.87 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB.

Mariners' Matt Brash: Earns save Tuesday
Brash picked up his first save of the season in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Twins, striking out a batter over a perfect inning of work.
Brash was called upon for the save after the Andres Munoz was deployed in the eighth of a tie game. The Mariners took the lead in the top of the ninth and Brash shut the door with ease. Tuesday's save was Brash's first since the 2023 season after he missed all of last year and the start of this year with injury. He's begun his 2025 campaign by pitching 14.1 scoreless innings while racking up seven holds and now a save. Brash looks to be the next man up for saves if Munoz were to miss time.

Mariners' Matt Brash: Rejoins bullpen
The Mariners reinstated Brash (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.
After missing all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Brash will make his long-awaited return to Seattle's bullpen. The 26-year-old made six appearances at Triple-A Tacoma during his rehab assignment, giving up six runs (five earned) across 5.1 innings, and he'll most likely take on a middle-relief role for the Mariners while he readjusts to major-league hitters. Troy Taylor was optioned to Tacoma in a corresponding move.

Brash (elbow) has made six appearances during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, logging an 8.44 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB over 5.1 innings.
Brash last pitched Tuesday, which marked the first time he's worked two out of three days on his rehab stint. He had previously received at least three days off in between each of his first five outings. The hard-throwing right-hander appears to be on the precipice of being activated from the injured list after missing all of last season due to Tommy John surgery. General manager Justin Hollander said Wednesday that Brash is "getting very close" to rejoining Seattle's bullpen, per Zac Hereth of Seattle Sports.

Brash threw 19 pitches during the outing, allowing one hit while striking out one in one inning of work. After throwing a bullpen session Saturday, Brash is set to take another step forward in his throwing program Wednesday. Brash is progressing as planned in his recovery from 2024 Tommy John surgery, although the next step in his throwing program has hit a brief delay. The right-hander appears to be ready to embark on a minor-league rehab assignment, but Daniel Kramer of MLB.com notes Brash has remained with the Mariners in San Francisco instead of joining Triple-A Tacoma due to frigid temperatures in the forecast in Reno, where Tacoma has a three-game weekend set. The hard-throwing Brash should be able to get in his first rehab action at some point next week, and he remains on track to help Seattle's bullpen in late April or early May.

After returning to action for the first time since September 2023 in Seattle's final spring training game last week, Brash is inching toward taking the next step in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The hard-throwing right-hander will likely need to make several appearances in the minors before returning to Seattle's bullpen, so he remains unlikely to rejoin the major-league roster until sometime in late April or early May. Although Brash is set to serve as a high-leverage arm for the Mariners, the club could ease him back into action as a middle reliever upon his eventual activation from the IL.

Mariners' Matt Brash: Fares well in Cactus League outing
Brash (elbow) struck out two batters and walked one in two-thirds of an inning during Monday's Cactus League game against the Padres.
Brash appeared to be amped up in what was his first live action since undergoing an internal brace procedure last May. He fired his first pitch at 98 mph and struck out the first batter he faced on three pitches. Brash then struck out the next batter he faced and walked the third, resulting in his removal after 12 pitches. According to Shannon Drayer of Seattle Times Sports, the next step for Brash will be to make sure he emerges from Monday's outing without any issues. If all goes as planned over the next day or so, he'll likely be scheduled for throwing on the back fields later in the week, followed by a rehab stint at Triple-A Tacoma.
