Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Starting hitting progression
Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias said Monday that Westburg (elbow) will begin a hitting progression this week, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.
Westburg underwent Tommy John surgery in May and missed the entire 2026 season. However, because he's a position player and not a pitcher, he has a good chance to head into the 2027 season without any limitations. Westburg has slashed .264/.312/.456 over parts of three major-league seasons and, assuming health, could open next season as the Orioles' primary third baseman.

Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Undergoes TJ surgery
Westburg (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Andrew Golden of TheBanner.com reports.
Westburg's procedure will keep him out for the remainder of the 2026 campaign, but general manager Mike Elias said Friday that the 27-year-old infielder has a good chance to return to playing in the field full time by early 2027. Until then, Coby Mayo will likely take over as Baltimore's primary third baseman, though Jeremiah Jackson, Blaze Alexander and Weston Wilson are also candidates to make starts at the hot corner.

Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Needs season-ending elbow surgery
Westburg will undergo season-ending elbow surgery, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.
Westburg suffered a partially torn UCL in his right elbow during spring training and had been attempting to rehab the injury without surgery. He began a throwing program in April but was shut down earlier this month. The 27-year-old will now miss the entirety of the 2026 campaign, leaving Coby Mayo, Jeremiah Jackson, Blaze Alexander and Weston Wilson as candidates for playing time at third base the remainder of the season. Baltimore will hope to get Jackson Holliday (hand) back at some point in the relatively near future, and he's been getting reps at third base as well during his latest rehab assignment, perhaps signaling he'll be an option at the hot corner for the big-league club.

Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Weighing options after consultation
Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said Wednesday that Westburg (elbow) is "going through the options, next steps, what he wants to do" following an exam with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The Orioles transferred Westburg (elbow) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Albert Suarez, who was called up from Triple-A Norfolk. Westburg is working his way back from a partially torn UCL in his right elbow and has progressed to swinging a bat and playing catch, manager Craig Albernaz said Wednesday, per Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun. As a result of his move to the 60-day IL, Westburg won't be eligible for activation until May 21 as Baltimore brings him along slowly. Coby Mayo will continue to fill in at third base for the Orioles while Westburg is sidelined.
