  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Idle against southpaw

Moniak is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

The Rockies will send the left-handed-hitting Moniak to the bench while southpaw Eric Lauer toes the rubber for the Dodgers. With Moniak out of the lineup, the Rockies will go with Troy Johnston in the designated-hitter and Jake McCarthy, Cole Carrigg and Tyler Freeman as their starting outfield trio.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Homer, three more hits Thursday

Moniak went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, an additional RBI and three total runs scored in Thursday's 14-4 win over the Marlins.

After coming up a single shy of a cycle Wednesday, Moniak was a triple away from the feat in another three-hit game Thursday. The outfielder now has three homers and six extra-base hits in his last three games after going just 2-for-32 in his prior 12 contests. Overall, Moniak is slashing .280/.330/.621 with 15 homers, 37 RBI, 28 runs scored and one steal across 197 plate appearances this season.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Single shy of cycle Wednesday

Moniak went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple, a double, three total RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Marlins.

Moniak had a chance at the cycle, but he flew out in the seventh inning and didn't get another at-bat. This was his first multi-hit effort since May 13, when he also came up a single shy of the cycle versus the Pirates. He's batting .271 with a .922 OPS, 14 homers, three triples, 10 doubles, 35 RBI, 25 runs scored and a stolen base over 52 contests this season. Moniak has gone just 6-for-27 over nine games since returning from ankle tendinitis, but he has homered in each of the last two contests.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Idle against southpaw

Moniak is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Moniak will sit for the second time in the series following his activation from the injured list Monday, with both of his absences coming against left-handed pitching. While picking up his first start for the Rockies since May 20 in Tuesday's 5-2 loss, Moniak went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Activated but not in lineup Monday

The Rockies activated Moniak (ankle) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Moniak has been sidelined since late May with right ankle tendinitis but received the green light to rejoin the active roster after going 1-for-13 with a double in three rehab contests. He was putting together an All-Star-worthy season before getting hurt, posting a .942 OPS with 12 home runs. The left-handed-hitting Moniak is not in the Rockies' lineup Monday versus Red Sox southpaw Jake Bennett. Sterlin Thompson has been sent back to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding roster move.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Nearing rehab assignment

Moniak (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Moniak is scheduled to play with Albuquerque during its weekend series and will return to Denver on Sunday to be evaluated by the team's medical staff. He could presumably be activated shortly thereafter, potentially for the start of the Rockies' series against the Red Sox on Monday.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: No change of directon

Moniak (ankle) has not begun testing his ability to change direction while running, MLB.com reports.

The positive news is that Moniak has resumed hitting and throwing, while also doing some running. However, he has not been scheduled to test his ability to change direction, meaning he is still some time away from returning.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Resumes activity

Moniak (ankle) has been cleared to begin baseball activities, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.

Manager Warren Schaeffer said Friday that Moniak resumed hitting off a tee during Colorado's series against the Angels, but the 28-year-old outfielder remains without a return timeline. He has been sidelined by right ankle tendinitis since late May and will likely embark on a rehab assignment before coming off the IL.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Return date unclear

Moniak has been limited to rest and recovery since landing on the 10-day injured list May 22 due to right ankle tendinitis, MLB.com reports.

Though a recent MRI revealed no issues with Moniak's ankle beyond tendinitis, the outfielder looks like he'll have to wait a bit for the discomfort to subside before he resumes baseball activities. Moniak's recent move to the IL appears to have opened up a full-time role in the outfield for Tyler Freeman, who has started in 10 of the Rockies' last 11 games.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Out with ankle injury

The Rockies placed Moniak on the 10-day injured list Friday with right ankle tendinitis.

Moniak has been playing through the injury since colliding with the outfield wall during Colorado's series against Pittsburgh last week. He's gone 0-for-13 across his last five games while fighting his sprained ankle, so the Rockies will put him on the shelf for 10 days and give him time off to recover properly. Sterlin Thompson will come up from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move and could receive regular playing time in the outfield until Moniak or Jordan Beck (hamstring) returns.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: On bench versus lefty

Moniak is not in the starting lineup Thursday night against Arizona.

Moniak will get a breather as the Rockies square off with left-handed starter Eduardo Rodriguez. The outfielder has gone 2-for-21 at the plate over the last seven games, so a day off provides a chance to reset. Troy Johnston will draw the start in left field, batting eighth in the series opener.

  • Rockies' Mickey Moniak: Drives in five in win

Moniak went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, a triple, a double and five total RBI in Wednesday's 10-4 win over the Pirates.

It's already Moniak's third game with three or more hits this year, as the outfielder would finish a single shy of a cycle while driving in a season-high five runs. Moniak would put Colorado ahead for good with his three-run homer off Mitch Keller in the fifth inning, his 12th long ball through just 35 games this year. Moniak's gotten off to a red-hot start, slashing .315/.358/.693 with 26 RBI, 12 runs scored and a stolen base across 137 plate appearances.
