Rangers' Danny Jansen: Signs with Rangers
Jansen signed a two-year, $14.5 million contract with the Rangers on Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Following a poor 2024 campaign, Jansen looked more like his usual self in '25, slashing .215/.321/.399 with 14 homers, 36 RBI and 38 runs scored across 337 regular-season plate appearances between Tampa Bay and Milwaukee. His return to form was enough to draw a multi-year commitment from Texas, where the 30-year-old will now compete with Kyle Higashioka for starting reps behind the plate.

Danny Jansen: Reaches free agency
The Brewers declined Jansen's $12 million mutual option for 2026 on Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
He'll be given a $500,000 buyout instead. Jansen slashed .215/.321/.399 with 14 home runs over 98 regular-season contests between the Rays and Brewers in 2025 and the 30-year-old catcher will now enter the free-agent market.

With the Brewers playing a day game after a night game and with top backstop Willson Contreras nursing a bruised hand coming out of Saturday's 3-2 win, Jansen will receive a turn behind the plate. Since being acquired from the Rays on July 28, Jansen is slashing .226/.311/.340 through his first 20 games with Milwaukee.

Brewers' Danny Jansen: Starting behind plate in early game
Jansen will start at catcher and bat eighth in the first game of Monday's doubleheader versus the Cubs.
William Contreras will get a break from catching but stay in the lineup at designated hitter for the first contest of the twin bill, enabling Jansen to make a second consecutive start. Since being acquired from the Rays on July 28, Jansen has seen light usage overall with Milwaukee, appearing in seven contests while slashing .222/.286/.278 with four runs and one RBI.

Brewers' Danny Jansen: Bound for Milwaukee
The Brewers acquired Jansen and cash considerations from the Rays on Monday in exchange for infielder Jadher Areinamo, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jansen won't supplant William Contreras as Milwaukee's No. 1 catcher, but he will give the club an upgrade over Eric Haase for the top backup spot. The 30-year-old Jansen has posted an .820 OPS against left-handed pitching this season and is scheduled to become a free agent this winter.

Rays' Danny Jansen: On bench for series finale
Jansen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
The right-handed-hitting Jansen continues to serve as the Rays' primary catcher against left-handed pitching, but he and the lefty-hitting Matt Thaiss have essentially been working in a timeshare against righties since the latter backstop was acquired from the White Sox on May 27. Thaiss will get the nod behind the dish Wednesday after Jansen had started each of the last three contests, two of which came while the Athletics sent lefties to the hill.
