Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Scratched with forearm injury
Kiner-Falefa was scratched from the lineup for Friday's game against the Mariners due to left forearm inflammation, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Kiner-Falefa has recorded a base hit in each of his last six games, but he'll have to wait a bit longer for his next chance to extend his streak while he sits out with a forearm issue. Marcelo Mayer -- originally set to sit out due to an illness -- will join the lineup and start at shortstop with Kiner-Falefa on the sidelines.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Pokes homer in loss
Kiner-Falefa started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
Kiner-Falefa opened the bottom of the eighth inning with his second home run of the season. He got the start at shortstop against a right-hander, which has been a spot for Marcelo Mayer, who was given a breather after five consecutive starts. Kiner-Falefa has been an infield regular since Trevor Story (abdomen) hit the injured list, serving at second base, shortstop and third base. He's been the most productive of a group that includes Mayer and Caleb Durbin. Kiner-Falefa is slashing .304/.368/.435 with two home runs and eight RBI over the last 21 games.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Logs two steals in loss
Kiner-Falefa started at third base and went 1-for-2 with two walks and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays.
Kiner-Falefa put himself in scoring position a couple of times, but the Red Sox continued a dismal run of failing to produce with RISP -- Boston's gone 1-for-24 in those situations and left 26 runners on base in the first two games of the series. Kiner-Falefa unexpectedly has become a lineup regular for Boston, having started 18 of the last 19 games at second base, shortstop and third base. A combination of Trevor Story's abdomen injury and Caleb Durbin's inconsistent bat have led to Kiner-Falefa being a constant presence in the starting nine. He's gone 19-for-65 (.292) with three extra-base hits, six RBI, seven walks, four steals and 12 runs scored during that stretch.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Taking seat Saturday
Kiner-Falefa isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Kiner-Falefa has seen an uptick in playing time recently, but he'll get a day off Saturday after going 1-for-15 in four games since the beginning of the month. His absence will allow Anthony Seigler to pick up a start at the keystone while batting eighth.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Gaining foothold in lineup
Kiner-Falefa started at third base and went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-0 win over Atlanta.
Kiner-Falefa was part of a small-ball, six-run fourth inning built on five singles, a walk, an error and a sacrifice. It was the fourth straight game with at least one RBI for Kiner-Falefa, who started three of those games (once at shortstop and twice at the hot corner). Given the injury to Trevor Story (abdomen) and unproductive bat of Caleb Durbin, there may be more starting opportunities for Kiner-Falefa.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Drives in three against Atlanta
Kiner-Falefa went 2-for-3 with a solo homer, three RBI, one walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Atlanta.
Kiner-Falefa received the nod at third base Tuesday, marking his fourth start on the left side of the infield in the last seven days. With Marcelo Mayer taking over at shortstop the last couple games, Kiner-Falefa appears to be primarily vying for playing time at third base, where he'll face competition for reps from Caleb Durbin and Nick Sogard. Kiner-Falefa now has a pair of multi-hit games over the past week after he slugged a home run off lefty Dylan Lee in the seventh inning before producing a two-run single off Raisel Iglesias in the ninth. Kiner-Falefa is slashing .278/.350/.370 with one home run, nine RBI, seven runs scored, four stolen bases and a 6:9 BB:K across 61 plate appearances this season.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Makes rare start
Kiner-Falefa started at shortstop and went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Royals. He was also caught stealing.
Kiner-Falefa made his first start since May 5, filling in for the injured Trevor Story (groin), who could eventually decide to undergo surgery for a sports hernia. Kiner-Falefa has started just 14 of Boston's 48 games. He's in the mix with a slew of utility infielders that could fill in for Story or slumping infielders Caleb Durbin (.169) and Marcelo Mayer (.219).

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Logs two hits in win
Kiner-Falefa started at third base and went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 9-5 win over the Twins.
Kiner-Falefa, who filled in for the resting Caleb Durbin, made a second consecutive start. His start Tuesday came at second base against a left-hander as part of a platoon role with Marcelo Mayer. Kiner-Falefa's playing time has been sporadic, and he's largely failed to take advantage of those opportunities with a .222/.300/.222 slash line in 20 plate appearances.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Part of platoon at 2B
Kiner-Falefa will be part of a three-man platoon at second base early in the season, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Marcelo Mayer will start against right-handers, with both Kiner-Falefa and Andruw Monasterio getting chances in the lineup against lefties. The manager indicated the player who will start against southpaws will be a "mix-and-match" situation, but Monasterio was more effective against lefties in 2025. The Red Sox are scheduled to face two Cincinnati left-handers out of the gate -- Andrew Abbott and Nick Lodolo (blister).

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Continues hot camp
Kiner-Falefa started at first base and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's spring game against Minnesota.
Kiner-Falefa is adding first base to his already expansive list of positions. With Willson Contreras away at the World Baseball Classic and Romy Gonzalez (shoulder) possibly in need of surgery, Kiner-Falefa has made four appearances at first, while also seeing time at shortstop (one game), second base (two), third base (two), and designated hitter (one). Through 10 Grapefruit League games, he's batting .409 (9-for-22) with four walks, two doubles, two RBI and one steal. The latest roster projection by Ian Browne of MLB.com includes both Kiner-Falefa and Andruw Monasterio as utility infielders.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Gettings reps at first
Kiner-Falefa is getting work at first base early in spring training due to the absences of Triston Casas (knee) and Romy Gonzalez (shoulder), Sean McAdam of Masslive.com reports.
Casas continues to recover from major knee surgery last May, and Gonzalez has been shelved since September due to a left shoulder injury. Kiner-Falefa has typically served at second base, third and shortstop during his major-league career, but the veteran utility man could get some looks at first during spring training and early in the regular season behind Willson Contreras.

Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Lands one-year deal with Boston
Kiner-Falefa signed a one-year, $6 million contract with the Red Sox on Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Kiner-Falefa spent time with the Pirates and Blue Jays in 2025, slashing .262/.297/.334 with 40 RBI, 45 runs scored and 15 stolen bases across 459 regular-season plate appearances. The 30-year-old's career .262 batting average and ability to play three infield positions will help him to crack the starting nine occasionally, but he's unlikely to secure regular starts for the Red Sox.

Blue Jays' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Grabbing another start Friday
Kiner-Falefa will start at second base and bat eighth in Friday's ALCS Game 5 against the Mariners.
With Anthony Santander (back) removed from the ALCS roster ahead of Game 4, the Blue Jays have shifted Addison Barger to right field and Ernie Clement to third base while installing Kiner-Falefa at the keystone for the second straight contest. Kiner-Falefa went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in the Blue Jays' Game 4 victory.

Kiner-Falefa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Blue Jays' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Claimed by Blue Jays
The Blue Jays claimed Kiner-Falefa off waivers from the Pirates on Sunday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
The 30-year-old was placed on outright waivers by the Pirates on Friday, and the Blue Jays will pay what remains of his $7.5 million salary for 2025. Kiner-Falefa was a lineup regular at shortstop and third base for Pittsburgh but is likely to operate as more of a true utility player in Toronto.
