  • Orioles' Manny Barreda: Clears waivers

Barreda cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

As a 32-year-old with just three career MLB appearances under his belt, all of which came this year, it's unsurprising that Barreda passed through waivers unclaimed. He'll remain in an organizational depth role at Norfolk for the Orioles.

  • Orioles' Manny Barreda: Loses spot on 40-man roster

Barreda was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Tuesday.

Barreda made three appearances with Baltimore earlier in September, but he was sent back down to Triple-A Norfolk after allowing a pair of runs in both of his final two outings. With Baltimore claiming right-hander Joey Krehbiel off waivers from Tampa Bay, Barreda now finds himself without a spot on the 40-man roster. He could potentially latch on with another organization through a waiver claim, but given that he holds a mediocre 3.99 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 38.1 Triple-A innings, it wouldn't be at all surprising if he winds up accepting an outright assignment to Norfolk.

  • Orioles' Manny Barreda: Sent down Saturday

Barreda was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk following Saturday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com

Barreda made his major-league debut Wednesday but will head back to the minors after he allowed two runs on two hits and two walks in two-thirds of an inning in the second game of Saturday's twin bill. The right-hander has made 23 appearances (two starts) with Norfolk this year and has posted a 4.19 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 34.1 innings.

  • Orioles' Manny Barreda: Earns win in major-league debut

Barreda (1-0) struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the win Wednesday over Kansas City.

The 32-year-old pitched the top of the eighth inning with Baltimore trailing 5-0, and he was able to maintain the five-run deficit. The offense rallied for nine runs in its half of the inning, and that made Barreda a winner in his major-league debut. The right-hander projects for a low-leverage role as long as he's with the big club.
