Judge went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts during the Yankees' 5-3 win over the Rockies on Tuesday.
Judge was officially back in the lineup Tuesday after missing more than three months while on the IL due to a stress fracture in his ribs. He didn't have the performance he wanted in front of the home crowd, striking out in both his first and third plate appearances while flying out to center field in the fourth inning. Judge is expected to be eased back into action given his lengthy absence and lack of a rehab assignment, so he'll see some extra days off and occasionally serve as the designated hitter over the final weeks of the regular season.

Judge looks set to return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener against the Rockies, marking the 34-year-old's first game action since May 31. He landed on the injured list five days later after being diagnosed with a stress fracture in a rib on his right side. Judge faced live pitching Monday at Yankee Stadium, and with the workout going well, New York has elected to reinstate him without sending him out on a rehab assignment beforehand. Prior to hitting the shelf, Judge slashed .248/.375/.533 with 17 home runs, five stolen bases, 38 RBI and 43 runs scored across 261 plate appearances.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday on the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast by Jomboy Media that Judge will be eased back into a full-time role.
Judge was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday and will return to the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday's series opener versus the Rockies. He is skipping a rehab assignment and has not played in a game since late May, so Judge will be subbed out early in some games and will get some extra days off as the Yankees ease him back into an everyday role.

Judge (ribs) is expected to face live pitching Monday at Yankee Stadium, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Judge began taking batting practice on the field Friday, and his graduation to facing live pitching during New York's upcoming scheduled day off keeps him on track to return sometime during the team's homestand next week. Judge took batting practice on the field Friday and appears on track to return during the team's upcoming homestand, which runs from Sept. 8-13. However, Hoch suggests a return for the very start of that homestand is unlikely with Judge still yet to check the final box in his recovery program. Yankees' Aaron Judge: Could return for next homestand
Manager Aaron Boone stated Monday that Judge (ribs) could be activated from the 60-day injured list during the Yankees' upcoming homestand, which runs from Sept. 8 - Sept. 13, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.
Boone isn't yet ready to commit to a firm date for Judge's return, but it's a positive development that he's inching closer. The slugger was cleared to begin a hitting progression almost two weeks ago and has more recently advanced to hitting in the batting cage. A more exact timetable for Judge's return could become more clear over the next week.
