Ramirez went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Reds.
The star third baseman produced a run nearly single-handedly in the fifth inning of an eventual 6-5 win for Cleveland, reaching on a one-out single, swiping second and third off the battery of Chase Burns and Tyler Stephenson, and then coming home on a Chase DeLauter sacrifice fly. Ramirez, who stole his first bags since returning from a hand injury July 22, is up to 26 steals on the season in just 78 games. After an 0-for-4 showing in the nightcap, he carries a .235/.332/.399 slash line with 10 homers, 35 RBI and 45 runs.

Ramirez will skip a rehab assignment and return from a five-plus week absence due to hamate bone surgery. Players coming back from hamate bone injuries can sometimes take awhile to get all of their power back, and Ramirez not knocking off rust with some rehab games won't help his chances of hitting the ground running. That said, the superstar remains a must-start in fantasy leagues whenever he is active.

Ramirez had stitches removed from his left hand Tuesday and could soon begin swinging a bat as the next step in his rehab process, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Ramirez previously had begun gripping a bat, going through fielding drills and throwing out to 140 feet before Tuesday's milestone. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt indicated the 33-year-old third baseman is still on the same 5-to-7 week timeline. Ramirez underwent surgery on his left hamate two weeks ago.

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Undergoes surgery, out 5-7 weeks
Ramirez underwent surgery to address the hamate bone fracture in his left hand Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined 5-to-7 weeks, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
The veteran third baseman sustained the injury over the weekend against the Tigers and will now be sidelined through the All-Star break. Ramirez hasn't produced at his usual level this season with just 10 homers and a .757 OPS through 72 games, though his 24 stolen bases did put him on pace for a career high prior to the injury.

The move was a foregone conclusion after the seven-time All-Star was diagnosed with a left hamate bone fracture following Saturday's game. Cleveland reinstated Gabriel Arias (wrist) from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move, and he and Daniel Schneemann are likely to be the primary options at third base while Ramirez is sidelined. Cleveland announced Saturday that Ramirez has a left hamate bone fracture, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Ramirez was taken out of Saturday's ball game against Detroit in the sixth inning with what is now determined to be a left hamate bone fracture. The 33-year-old was slashing .238/.339/.415 in 310 plate appearances this campaign, well below his career averages of .278/.352/.500. The Guardians have yet to determine who will replace Ramirez on the active roster, but look for David Fry and Daniel Schneemann to get more playing time at third base in his absence.
