The typical recovery timeline for the procedure is 6-to-8 weeks, which will allow Eovaldi to begin his offseason throwing program when he normally would. He is expected to be fully recovered from the hernia surgery and also his late-season rotation cuff strain in time for the start of spring training. Eovaldi held a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 129:21 K:BB across 130 innings for the Rangers in 2025.

Rangers general manager Ross Fenstermaker said Friday that Eovaldi (shoulder) will visit a physician in Phoenix next week to determine whether he will require sports hernia surgery, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Eovaldi's season ended in late August when he was diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain. However, Fenstermaker noted that Eovaldi's shoulder injury is not expected to impact his offseason throwing program. The bigger concern now appears to be Eovadi's groin area, though more will be known about his status moving forward following next week's exam. Eovaldi had a fabulous 2025 campaign, posting a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 129:21 K:BB across 130 innings. He's under contract with the Rangers through 2027.
The Rangers transferred Eovaldi to the 60-day injured list Friday.
Eovaldi suffered a season-ending rotator cuff strain in late August, so Friday's move is procedural. It opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Donovan Solano.

The Rangers placed Eovaldi (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Sunday.
Eovaldi is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign due to a rotator cuff strain, cutting short what had been a phenomenal season with a 1.73 ERA and 0.85 WHIP through 130 innings (22 starts). Caleb Boushley will join the Rangers' bullpen and take Eovaldi's place on the active roster; meanwhile, Jacob Latz will claim the fifth spot in the rotation.

The right-hander's lone blemish came on a second-inning RBI double by C.J. Kayfus, but he was otherwise dominant, tying his season high with nine punchouts. Eovaldi has now gone at least seven innings in five of his last seven outings, posting a 1.93 ERA and a stellar 43:8 K:BB across 46.2 innings during that stretch. The 35-year-old will carry this strong form into his next scheduled start against the Angels.

Eovaldi (11-3) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six across seven innings. He did not issue a walk.
Eovaldi gave up solo home runs to Alejandro Kirk and Vladimir Guerrero in the second and sixth innings, respectively, but it was otherwise a clean performance for the veteran right-hander. Eovaldi is now up to 13 quality starts on the season -- five of which have come over his last seven outings -- and he sports a 1.76 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 120:21 K:BB across 123 innings this season. His next start is lined up for next weekend at home against the Guardians.
Eovaldi did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings in a 7-6 victory over the Diamondbacks. He struck out three.
Eovaldi was hit hard early Monday, giving up three home runs across the second and third innings. The rough outing snapped an incredible stretch in which the right-hander logged 38.2 innings over his previous six starts with a 0.47 ERA and 0.78 WHIP. Even after the setback, his season line remains outstanding at a 1.71 ERA and 0.88 WHIP across 116 innings in 20 starts.
