  • Stars' Colin Blackwell: Avoids long-term injury

Blackwell is dealing with a lower-body injury but should return before Opening Night, Robert Tiffin of NHL.com reports Monday.

Blackwell could still return for an upcoming preseason contest, but his focus will be on the Opening Night clash with St. Louis on Oct. 2. In 70 regular-season games last year, the 33-year-old center notched four goals and 11 helpers. As such, he is unlikely to have enough fantasy value in most formats.

  • Stars' Casey DeSmith: Tending twine against St. Louis

DeSmith will draw the start during Monday's preseason game at home against the Blues, Sam Nestler of DLLS Sports reports.

Remi Poirier drew the start during Saturday's preseason opener on the road against St. Louis, but DeSmith will tend the twine as the Stars head home Monday. DeSmith went 15-8-6 with a 2.43 GAA and .907 save percentage across 30 regular-season appearances last year, and he'll likely begin the 2026-27 regular season as Jake Oettinger's backup.

  • Maple Leafs' Morgan Rielly: Ready to rock

Rielly (illness) has recovered from his viral condition and could play in Wednesday's preseason game against Ottawa, according to Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun on Monday.

Rielly and Darren Raddysh were paired together during Monday's practice. The 32-year-old Rielly earned 11 goals, 36 points, 141 shots on net and 114 blocked shots in 78 appearances during the 2025-26 regular season.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Drawing start against Philadelphia

Lindgren will start Monday's preseason game at home against the Flyers, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports.

Logan Thompson tended the twine during Sunday's preseason opener against Boston, and Lindgren will draw the start in the second half of the back-to-back set. Although Lindgren will begin the matchup in the crease, head coach Spencer Carbery said that Clay Stevenson will take over in the second half of the game.

  • Jets' Stuart Skinner: Starting Monday's preseason game

Skinner will start Monday's preseason game at home against the Avalanche, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Skinner signed a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Jets in July and could begin the regular season as Winnipeg's primary goaltender since Connor Hellebuyck has been suspended by the team amid his looming trade request. Skinner made 50 regular-season appearances between the Oilers and Penguins last year, going 23-17-9 with a 2.92 GAA and .888 save percentage.

  • Jake Allen G | NJ

Devils' Jake Allen: Poised to start Monday

Allen is expected to protect the home net in Monday's exhibition contest against the Rangers, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Allen is poised to get the nod after being the first goalie off at Monday's morning skate. He posted a 17-17-2 record with one shutout, a 2.74 GAA and a .903 save percentage in 37 appearances during the 2025-26 regular season. The veteran netminder could begin the 2026-27 campaign as the Devils' primary option between the pipes, but he could face competition for starts from Nico Daws and David Rittich.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: First goalie off Monday

Murashov was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Dan Potash of SportsNet Pittsburgh reports, indicating that he'll draw the home preseason start against the Sabres.

Murashov is slated to compete for a roster spot with the Penguins ahead of the 2026-27 regular season, and he'll draw the start during the team's preseason opener Monday. He made 38 regular-season appearances with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last year, going 24-9-4 with a 2.20 GAA and .919 save percentage.

  • Dylan Garand G | NYR

Rangers' Dylan Garand: Set to start Monday

Garand is expected to defend the road net in Monday's preseason matchup against New Jersey, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.

Garand was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, which indicates he will start, but Callum Tung could enter the game in relief at some point. The 24-year-old Garand had a 2-0-1 record with a 1.62 GAA and a .948 save percentage in three appearances with the Rangers during the 2025-26 regular season. He is competing with Joonas Korpisalo at training camp for the No. 2 goalie role behind Igor Shesterkin.

  • Penguins' Blake Lizotte: Deemed week-to-week

Lizotte (upper body) is week-to-week, the team announced Monday.

Lizotte likely won't participate in preseason action and could miss the start of the 2026-27 campaign. He registered seven goals, 19 points, 49 shots on net, 35 blocked shots and 49 hits over 55 appearances in the 2025-26 regular season.

  • Joseph Woll G | PHI

Flyers' Joseph Woll: Starting Monday's preseason game

Woll will draw the road start during Monday's preseason game against Washington, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Woll was traded to the Flyers from the Maple Leafs in mid-June, and he'll have the opportunity to don his new sweater for the first time during Monday's preseason matchup. The 28-year-old is slated to play two periods before Carson Bjarnason takes over in the third frame. Woll made 39 regular-season appearances for Toronto last year and went 15-16-7 with a 3.34 GAA and .898 save percentage.
