  • Dylan Guenther RW | UTA

Mammoth's Dylan Guenther: Huge night with man advantage

Guenther scored a goal and added two assists, all on the power play, in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

Utah exploited man-advantage situations for three of its four goals, and Guenther had a hand in all three. The 23-year-old broke out for 40 goals and 73 points in 79 regular-season games last season, and he's come flying out of the gate in 2026-27 with three goals and five points -- all on the power play -- in only two contests.

  • Ivan Demidov RW | MON

Canadiens' Ivan Demidov: One of each in OT loss

Demidov scored a goal, distributed an assist and put three shots on net in Saturday's 6-5 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

Demidov got on the board in 2026-27 with a pair of points in the heart of the Canadiens' comeback effort Saturday. After pitching in with a secondary helper on Chris Kreider's first goal with the Habs, Demidov continued his heroic effort with the game-tying goal with less than one minute remaining in regulation. The 20-year-old winger had a phenomenal rookie campaign in 2025-26, compiling 19 goals, 62 points and 127 shots on net across 82 regular-season games. He's a near lock to see top-six minutes moving forward, giving him a high ceiling in fantasy as a key piece in Montreal's offense.

  • Mammoth's Nick Schmaltz: Lights lamp twice in win

Schmaltz scored two goals, one the game-winner and the other on the power play, on a game-high eight shots on net in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Blue Jackets.

The 30-year-old gave the Mammoth a 2-0 lead late in the first period before wrapping up the scoring midway through the third. Schmaltz potted a career-high 33 goals and 74 points in 2025-26 over 82 regular-season games, and he's already tickled twine three times in his first two contests this season.

  • Mammoth's Sebastian Cossa: Gets win in Utah debut

Cossa stopped 17 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets.

A Kent Johnson tally in the second period spoiled a shutout bid for Cossa in his Mammoth debut, and just his second NHL appearance. The 23-year-old netminder is set to back up Karel Vejmelka this season after being acquired from the Red Wings in June, and more performances like this could earn him a bigger share of the workload than expected.

  • Penguins' Samuel Girard: Strong start continues Saturday

Girard scored a goal and put three shots on net in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over Montreal.

Girard provided two assists during Pittsburgh's Opening Night clash before he continued his hot start Saturday, where he found the back of the net in the second period to give the Penguins a 3-1 lead. The 28-year-old blueliner appears to be in for a solid role in his first full year with the Pens. He compiled three goals and 19 points across just 60 regular-season outings in 2025-26, but he's on pace to challenge the 25-point mark and beyond in the new season. He's a solid waiver-wire pickup in deep leagues for as long as the Penguins' offense stays hot and he occupies a top-four pairing.

  • Matvei Michkov RW | PHI

Flyers' Matvei Michkov: Lights lamp in OT loss

Michkov scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

The 21-year-old winger gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead midway through the second period with his first tally of the season, converting a feed from Travis Konecny after his linemate won a battle along the boards. It was Michkov's first point through three games, as the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft looks to bounce back from a disappointing sophomore campaign.

  • Penguins' Declan Carlile: Tallies first goal with Penguins

Carlile potted a goal, placed three shots on net and recorded three blocked shots in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Canadiens.

After Carlile picked up an assist during his Penguins' debut, he found the back of the net himself early in the second period to give his new team a 2-1 lead. The 26-year-old blueliner seems to be benefitting from the change of scenery, as he was held to just one goal and three points across 42 regular-season games with Tampa Bay in 2025-26. While he's played more of a defensive role to begin his NHL career, that could change with Pittsburgh, as he's currently occupying a spot on the team's top pair alongside Erik Karlsson. If this trend continues, he's poised for a career year, giving him a solid chance to be relevant in deep fantasy leagues as well.

  • Joseph Woll G | PHI

Flyers' Joseph Woll: Second straight OT loss

Woll made 37 saves in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

The Flyers were out-shot 40-18 on the night, so Woll did well just to earn the Flyers a point, but there wasn't much he could do on a Carolina power play in OT. The former Toronto netminder has started two of Philly's first three games, which could be due to the upper-body injury Dan Vladar dealt with late in the preseason, and Woll has had to settle for OTLs while allowing three goals in each outing.

  • Penguins' Ben Kindel: Finds twine in return

Kindel tallied a power-play goal, fired five shots on net and dished out two hits in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over Montreal.

After starting the new season on injured reserve, Kindel was cleared before Saturday's contest and made a big impact with his power-play goal. The 19-year-old center had one of the steadiest rookie campaigns across the NHL in 2025-26, where he compiled 17 goals, 35 points, 151 shots on net, 30 hits and 58 blocked shots across 77 regular-season games. Now that he's back in the lineup, Kindel should continue to center a line in Pittsburgh's middle six for the foreseeable future. If you stashed him on your IR spot in deep fantasy leagues, hold onto him while he's off to a strong start.

  • Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Two helpers in OT win

Svechnikov notched two assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers.

The 26-year-old winger had a hand in a pair of Sebastian Aho tallies. Svechnikov potted a career-high 31 goals and 70 points in 2025-26 over 79 regular-season games, and through the first three contests to begin the current campaign he's picked up three assists, including two with the man advantage.
