  • Sharks' Luca Cagnoni: Sent down Wednesday

Cagnoni was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Wednesday.

Cagnoni made the Sharks' Opening Night roster following an impressive training camp, and he's recorded a goal, an assist, 11 blocked shots, four PIM and a hit while averaging 17:29 of ice time over nine appearances. However, he had appeared in just two of the team's last six games and should have more consistent opportunities to make an impact in the minors.

  • Sharks' Filip Bystedt: Up from minors

Bystedt was called up by the Sharks on Friday, per Max Miller of Sharks Hockey Digest.

Bystedt has four goals and eight points in eight appearances with AHL San Jose in 2026-27. The 22-year-old was similarly dominant offensively in the AHL during the 2025-26 regular season with 22 goals and 60 points in 65 outings, but he hasn't made his NHL debut yet. It's possible Bystedt will get that chance Thursday versus Vancouver, but that hasn't been announced.

  • Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: Scores again Tuesday

Mateychuk scored a goal in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flyers.

Mateychuk has scored in consecutive games. The return of Dante Fabbro from a broken hand could eventually lead to less usage for Mateychuk, who has mostly functioned in a top-four role this season. Mateychuk has three goals, one assist, 21 shots on net, 18 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 10 appearances.

  • Sharks' Igor Chernyshov: Lands on injured reserve

Chernyshov (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

The Sharks announced over the weekend that Chernyshov is considered week-to-week, so it isn't very surprising to see him land on injured reserve. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but Colin Graf remains a candidate to see an increased role for San Jose in Chernyshov's absence.

  • Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Placed on injured reserve

Wennberg (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Wennberg has been sidelined for over a week due to his upper-body injury, and his placement on injured reserve isn't particularly surprising after the Sharks announced last week that the 32-year-old is considered week-to-week. It's not yet clear when Wennberg will be able to return to game action, but his move to injured reserve will allow the Sharks to call up some additional depth.

  • Stars' Kyle Capobianco: Out at least one week

Capobianco (leg) is undergoing an MRI and is expected to miss at least a week, Robert Tiffin of NHL.com reports Wednesday.

Head coach Glen Gulutzan doesn't believe Capobianco is going to be out long-term, but ultimately, the MRI should give Dallas more information. The 29-year-old Capobianco has no points, four PIM, two hits and three blocks in five appearances this season. Dallas is down to three healthy defensemen, so the Stars are likely to promote a blueliner from the AHL before Thursday's game against Montreal.

  • Devin Cooley G | CGY

Flames' Devin Cooley: Set to start Wednesday

Cooley is slated to start Wednesday's road game against Edmonton, Derek Wills of QR Calgary 770 AM reports.

Cooley is in the midst of a four-game winning streak, and he's set to draw a fifth consecutive start Wednesday. Across his recent four-game surge, he's posted a 1.50 GAA and .955 save percentage.

  • Red Wings' Albert Johansson: Won't play Thursday

Johansson (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Blackhawks, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Johansson was a late scratch for Monday's matchup against the Oilers, and he'll be unavailable for a second consecutive game Thursday. It's not yet clear when the 25-year-old will be able to return, but his next opportunity to suit up will be Saturday against St. Louis.

  • Zach Hyman LW | EDM

Oilers' Zach Hyman: On injured reserve

Hyman was placed on injured reserve Wednesday because of a stiff neck, per Eric Francis of Sportsnet.

Hyman suffered the injury in the second period of Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to Detroit. He's had a difficult start to the campaign, having already missed six games from Oct. 1-15 due to an undisclosed injury. While Hyman doesn't have an established timetable, his placement on IR means that he's not eligible to play in Edmonton's next three games. Filip Hallander might draw back into the lineup as a result of Hyman's absence.

  • Capitals' Logan Thompson: Considered game-time decision

Thompson (lower body) is considered a game-time decision for Wednesday's home game against the Flyers, Sammi Silber of The District Standard reports.

Thompson was the first goalie off during Wednesday's morning skate, but he remains on injured reserve due to his lower-body issue ahead of the matchup. Head coach Spencer Carbery said after morning skate that the team will see how Thompson feels Wednesday afternoon before determining his status against Philadelphia. If Thompson remains sidelined Wednesday, Charlie Lindgren or Mitchell Gibson will likely start in the crease.
