  • Warren Foegele LW | OTT

Senators' Warren Foegele: Will miss some time

Foegele (knee) is expected to miss an extended period of time, Jackson Starr of the Senators' official site reports Thursday.

Foegele sustained the injury during Tuesday's game against Vegas. He has a goal, four points, four PIM and 18 hits in 13 appearances in 2026-27. Hayden Hodgson is set to draw into the lineup Thursday due to Foegele's absence.

  • Canucks' Leevi Merilainen: First goalie off Thursday

Merilainen was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, Max Miller of NHL.com reports, indicating that he'll draw the road start against San Jose.

Merilainen returned to the win column Tuesday against Anaheim for the first time since Oct. 3, and he'll draw a third consecutive start Thursday. Across his nine appearances to begin the regular season, he's gone 2-3-1 with a 3.35 GAA and .900 save percentage.

  • Senators' Thomas Chabot: Set to return Thursday

Chabot (upper body) is expected to play Thursday in Los Angeles, per Jackson Starr of the Senators' official site.

Chabot has a goal, four points, a plus-5 rating, eight PIM, five hits and 24 blocks in nine appearances in 2026-27. He missed four straight games due to the injury. Carter Yakemchuk might be a healthy scratch as a result of Chabot's return.

  • Senators' Jonas Johansson: Starting against Los Angeles

Johansson will start Thursday's road game against Los Angeles, Jackson Starr of the Senators' official site reports.

Johansson made his regular-season debut for the Senators on Saturday, and he'll draw a third consecutive start Thursday. Across his two previous outings, he's gone 1-1-0 with a 3.05 GAA and .891 save percentage.

  • Penguins' Samuel Girard: Off injured reserve

Girard (undisclosed) was taken off injured reserve Thursday.

Girard was previously termed a game-time decision, but his activation indicates that he'll draw into the lineup against Utah on Thursday. He has a goal and seven points in nine appearances this campaign, which is a fantastic start for a defenseman who didn't record more than 24 points in any of the previous three regular seasons.

  • Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Slated to start Thursday

Kochetkov is expected to start Thursday's home game against the Blue Jackets, Peter Dewar of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Kochetkov has had a stellar start to the 2026-27 campaign, and he's set to start a third consecutive game Thursday. Across his eight starts to begin the regular season, he's gone 8-0-0 with a 1.61 GAA and .918 save percentage.

  • Stars' Cameron Hughes: Waived by Dallas

Hughes (upper body) was placed on waivers by the Stars on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Hughes began the regular season on the injured non-roster list, but his placement on waivers suggests that he's ready to return to game action. Assuming he clears waivers, the 30-year-old will presumably head to AHL Texas.

  • Jared Wright RW | LA

Kings' Jared Wright: Sent down Thursday

Wright was loaned to AHL Ontario on Thursday.

Wright was called up by the Kings last week, and he appeared in three games during his stint with the NHL club. He generated an assist, two blocked shots, two PIM and a hit while averaging 8:41 of ice time, but he'll head back to the minors after Martin Chromiak was recalled Thursday.

  • Sharks' Yaroslav Askarov: Starting against Vancouver

Askarov will start Thursday's home game against the Canucks, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Askarov hasn't gotten much offensive support over the past week and a half, as he's gone 1-2-0 across his last three starts despite posting a 1.68 GAA and .956 save percentage during that time. The Canucks have logged 3.07 goals per game to begin the regular season, which ranks 16th in the NHL.

  • Kevin Fiala LW | LA

Kings' Kevin Fiala: Returns to practice

Fiala (lower leg) was spotted skating in a non-contact jersey at Kings' morning skate Thursday.

Fiala's presence at Thursday's practice is an encouraging sign for the Kings, as he's been sidelined since the 2026 Olympics after fracturing his lower leg in Switzerland's group-stage game against Canada. The 30-year-old winger compiled 18 goals, 40 points and 146 shots on net across 56 regular-season outings in the 2025-26 campaign. It remains to be seen how close he is to returning to the lineup, but when he does, he'll add major offensive firepower for the Kings, who currently rank 27th in the NHL with just 2.55 goals per game to start the season. He's a great player to stash on an IR spot in fantasy for the time being.
