  • Hurricanes' Felix Unger Sorum: Collects three points in loss

Sorum scored twice and added an assist in AHL Chicago's 4-3 loss to Toronto in Game 5 of the Calder Cup Finals on Friday.

Unger Sorum totaled five goals and seven assists over 14 playoff outings. He missed some time in the later rounds due to injuries, but he was productive when healthy. The 20-year-old had a 66-point regular season for the Wolves, so he should get some looks with the Hurricanes in 2026-27.

  • Easton Cowan RW | TOR

Maple Leafs' Easton Cowan: Trio of helpers in win

Cowan logged three assists in AHL Toronto's 4-3 win over Chicago in Game 5 of the Calder Cup Finals on Friday.

Cowan picked up his third multi-point effort of the Marlies' playoff run at a great time. He helped out on all three of Toronto's goals in the second period, which was enough to secure the Calder Cup. Cowan finished the postseason with eight goals, 10 assists and 44 shots on net over 22 outings. Expect the 21-year-old to spend all of 2026-27 with the Maple Leafs.

  • Jonathan Toews: Announces retirement

Toews announced Friday that he's ending his playing career.

Toews will go down as one of the greatest captains in the history of the Blackhawks. He had 372 goals, 883 points, 60 PIM and 629 hits in 1,067 career regular-season outings with Chicago, but more importantly, he led the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup championships. Toews was especially critical during his first Cup win in 2010. He earned the Conn Smythe Trophy after scoring seven goals and 29 points in 22 playoff outings that year. However, Toews didn't play at all in the NHL in 2023-24 and 2024-25 because of health issues stemming from his battle with COVID. Despite missing those two years, he was able to revive his career by joining the Jets for 2025-26 and recording 11 goals, 29 points, 38 PIM and 17 hits in 82 regular-season appearances. After successfully playing one campaign in his hometown of Winnipeg, Toews is now hanging up his skates at the age of 38 on his own terms.

  • Maple Leafs' Darren Raddysh: Moved in sign-and-trade deal

Raddysh was traded to the Maple Leafs from the Lightning on Friday in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and agreed to terms on an eight-year, $68 million contract, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.

Raddysh was expected to hit the free-agent market July 1, so the fact that the Lightning were able to get at least something on the trade market feels like a win. The 30-year-old blueliner is coming off a career year in Tampa this season, racking up 22 goals and 48 assists, including 25 power-play points, in 73 regular-season contests. With Toronto, Raddysh figures to slot into the top pairing in addition to linking up with the No. 1 power-play unit.

  • Kraken's Logan Morrison: Staying with Seattle

Morrison signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Kraken on Thursday.

Per Sound of Hockey, it's a two-way contract that will allow Morrison to avoid restricted free agency this summer. The 23-year-old will remain with Seattle either way after taking a big step forward in his third professional season. He had 29 goals, 32 assists and a plus-23 rating over 68 regular-season outings with AHL Coachella Valley, and he added six points in 12 playoff contests. Morrison could be given a look with the big club in 2026-27, but he hasn't seen NHL action since the 2023-24 campaign, when he suited up in four games.

  • Troy Terry RW | ANA

Ducks' Troy Terry: Undergoes hip surgery

Terry recently underwent hip surgery and is expected to need 5-6 months to recover, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports Thursday.

Terry didn't miss any of Anaheim's 12 playoff games this year, and he was productive over those postseason outings with three goals and 11 points. However, he was playing through the hip injury. His timetable suggests that the 28-year-old won't be ready for the start of 2026-27, and he likely won't play before mid-November in a best-case scenario. He still might cross the 50-point mark for a sixth consecutive campaign in 2026-27 despite beginning the season on the shelf. Although he was limited to 61 outings during the 2025-26 regular season, he finished with 19 goals and 57 points.

  • Sharks' Michael Kesselring: Headed for West Coast

Kesselring was traded to the Sharks from Buffalo on Wednesday, along with the 27th overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, in exchange for the No. 20 overall pick in 2026.

Kesselring was not going to get much in the way of ice time with the Sabres for the coming season, given the team's logjam on the blue line. In San Jose, the 26-year-old defenseman should get a chance at a third-pairing role, especially if veterans Nick Leddy and John Klingberg walk in free agency.

  • Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Undergoes wrist surgery

Karlsson will undergo surgery Wednesday for a broken wrist, per Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

Karlsson left Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Thursday due to the injury, and he didn't play in Game 6 on Sunday. He had three goals and nine points in 15 playoff appearances this year. The 33-year-old also recorded four goals and seven points in 14 regular-season outings, but he missed the bulk of the campaign because of a lower-body injury. It's the second straight year that Karlsson has missed a significant chunk of time -- he was limited to 53 regular-season games and 11 playoff outings in 2024-25.

  • Maple Leafs' Artur Akhtyamov: Posts shutout in Game 3

Akhtyamov recorded a 24-save shutout in AHL Toronto's 1-0 win over Chicago in Game 3 of the Calder Cup Finals on Tuesday.

Akhtyamov has stood out in the playoffs with a 14-6 record, two shutouts, a 2.10 GAA and a .928 save percentage over 20 games. His effort Tuesday was a big one, giving the Marlies a 3-0 lead in the championship series. Akhtyamov will likely get the chance to close out the sweep in Game 4 on Thursday.

  • Isak Posch G | NSH

Predators' Isak Posch: Involved in trade

Nashville acquired Posch and Ross Colton from Colorado on Tuesday in exchange for Magnus Chrona, a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick.

Posch posted a 15-8-5 record with a 2.78 GAA and an .891 save percentage over 28 regular-season appearances with AHL Colorado in 2025-26. He is under contract through the 2026-27 campaign, and he will probably spend most of the year in the minors.
