  • Predators' Justus Annunen: Abandoned by teammates in loss

Annunen made 25 saves in a 6-0 loss to Boston on Thursday.

Annunen really didn't stand a chance Thursday. Even head coach Andrew Brunette called it the team's "worst effort of the year -- by far" after the game. Annunen delivered a .907 save percentage and 2.68 GAA in 23 starts (28 appearances; 10 wins) last season, so he does have talent. But the flashes of potential he flashed in Colorado are getting farther and farther away in the rearview mirror. There's little opportunity for the Finn to grow his game behind fellow Finn and star, Juuse Saros.

Red Wings' John Gibson: Questionable to return Thursday

Gibson sustained an upper-body injury versus the Canucks on Thursday and is questionable to return to the game.

Per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, the issue was Gibson getting something in his eye. Gibson stopped four of five shots over two periods prior to his exit. Michal Postava replaced him in goal, as the Red Wings are also without Daniil Tarasov (undisclosed). If Gibson can't finish Thursday's game, his status will be questionable heading into Saturday's contest versus the Flames. The Red Wings would also need to make a move to call-up a goalie, likely Carter Gylander, to fill in at the NHL level in that scenario.

  • Bruins' Michael DiPietro: First NHL shutout

DiPietro made 28 saves in a 6-0 win over the Predators on Thursday.

It was DiPietro's first NHL shutout and his second NHL win. His first came last Friday in a 4-2 victory against the Ducks. It's been a long haul for DiPietro, who made his NHL debut in 2018-19 with Vancouver. He had started two games and appeared in four before this season, spending the rest of his pro career in the AHL. DiPietro has talent -- he went 34-8-1 with three shutouts, a 1.91 GAA and .930 save percentage last season with Providence of the AHL. And now he has finally gotten his shot at an NHL gig. Expect him to get about 25 starts this season, and at this rate, he's going to deliver strong totals in daily formats given his talent and the strong team system.

  • John Gibson G | DET

Red Wings' John Gibson: Expected to start Thursday

Gibson is slated to start on the road against Vancouver on Thursday, per Thomas Drance of The Athletic.

Gibson has a 2-3-1 record, 3.57 GAA and .873 save percentage in six outings with Detroit in 2026-27. He's allowed at least three goals in each of his past five appearances. Vancouver is 2-8-1 and has averaged 3.00 goals per game this campaign.

  • Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Slated to face Detroit

Lankinen is expected to start at home against Detroit on Thursday, per Canucks play-by-play announcer Brendan Batchelor.

Lankinen has a 1-6-0 record, 6.41 GAA and .801 save percentage in seven appearances this campaign. He won his first game of the season and then has lost his past six appearances, including his last start Saturday, when he allowed four goals on 35 shots to Tampa Bay. The Red Wings are 3-3-3 and have averaged 2.60 goals per game this season, but Detroit has earned at least a point in each of its past five games (2-0-3).

  • Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Set to start Thursday

Grubauer will protect the home goal versus the Mammoth on Thursday, per Sound of Hockey.

Grubauer will get a second straight start and his fourth in the Kraken's last five games. He looks to have temporarily usurped Joey Daccord for the No. 1 job, as Grubauer has picked up more work since the two netminders split the first four games of the year.

  • Mammoth's Karel Vejmelka: Tending twine in Seattle

Vejmelka will guard the road goal versus the Kraken on Thursday, Catherine Bogart of the Mammoth's official site reports.

Vejmelka was pulled from his last start after giving up five goals on 17 shots against the Oilers. Sebastian Cossa was able to pick up a win over the Penguins in the next game, but Vejmelka will be back in a starting role Thursday. With five wins over eight appearances, Vejmelka remains a steady fantasy option even with middling ratios.

  • Predators' Justus Annunen: Slated starter Thursday

Annunen is expected to play on the road against Boston on Thursday, per Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site.

Annunen is gearing up for his first appearance of the 2026-27 campaign. He had a 10-12-2 record, 2.68 GAA and .906 save percentage in 28 regular-season outings with Nashville during 2025-26. Boston has dominated the early portion of the campaign, going 7-2-1 while averaging 3.60 goals per game.

  • Senators' Linus Ullmark: Out 1-2 weeks

Ullmark (lower body) is expected to miss the next 1-2 weeks, Claire Hanna of TSN reports Thursday.

Ullmark was placed on injured reserve after suffering the injury during Wednesday's game against Florida, so we already knew that he'd miss at least a week, and it seems he's not expected to miss much more than that. The 33-year-old has a 7-1-0 record, 1.33 GAA and .945 save percentage in eight appearances this campaign. Jonas Johansson has been called up from the minors, and he's set to be Samuel Ersson's understudy for Thursday's home game against San Jose.

  • Red Wings' Daniil Tarasov: Dealing with injury following Tuesday's loss

Tarasov is dealing with an undisclosed injury following Tuesday's shootout loss to the Kraken, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.

The Red Wings recalled Michal Postava from AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday, and he'll likely serve as John Gibson's backup during Thursday's road matchup against Vancouver. The exact nature and severity of Tarasov's injury aren't yet clear, and whether he'll be available Saturday in Calgary remains to be seen.
