  • Canadiens' Sam Montembeault: Ruled out for 10-14 days

Montembeault (lower body) is expected to be sidelined for 10-14 days, J-F Chaumont of NHL.com reports Friday.

Montembeault should be expected to miss at least the next four games at a minimum. Even when healthy, Montembeault is far from a lock to play regularly, with Jakub Dobes firmly cemented as the No. 1 option while Jacob Fowler slots into the backup role.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Exits ice first

Murashov was the first goalie to leave the ice Friday, Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now reports, indicating he'll tend the twine on the road against Columbus.

Murashov will make his second appearance of the year after giving up three goals on 35 shots in a loss to Winnipeg on Monday. With Arturs Silovs underwhelming, he's posted a 3.37 GAA across three games; the door is open for the 22-year-old Murashov to see more opportunities in the crease for the Penguins.

  • Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Starting against Washington

Shesterkin will start Friday's road game against Washington, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.

After an Opening Night loss in Boston, Shesterkin has bounced back with wins in each of his last three starts, posting a 1.67 GAA and .932 save percentage during those victories. Across two starts against the Capitals last year, he went 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .925 save percentage.

  • Jets' Clay Stevenson: Set to start Friday

Stevenson is expected to be between the pipes at home against the Ducks on Friday, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.

Stevenson has made one appearance for the Jets through the first four games, stopping 29 of 31 shots in a win over the Penguins. The 27-year-old backstop will likely face a stiffer test from the Ducks, especially on the power play, where they are converting at 38.5 percent. If Connor Hellebuyck (suspension) rejoins the team, Stevenson figures to be the odd man out, but for now he'll continue to serve as the No. 2 option.

  • Cam Talbot G | CLB

Blue Jackets' Cam Talbot: First goalie off Friday

Talbot was the first goalie off during Friday's morning skate, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports, indicating that he'll draw the home start against the Penguins.

Talbot didn't appear in either of the Blue Jackets' first two games of the regular season, but he appears set to make his regular-season debut Friday. Across 34 regular-season appearances with Detroit last year, he went 12-9-6 with a 3.19 GAA and .883 save percentage.

  • Capitals' Logan Thompson: In goal against Rangers

Thompson will get the starting nod at home versus the Rangers on Friday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Thompson is riding a two-game win streak to start the year, registering a 2.50 GAA and .921 save percentage along the way. While the Calgary native figures to see the bulk of the workload for the Caps, he appeared in 58 regular-season games last year; the club is fully confident in Charlie Lindgren and could give him some starts outside of back-to-backs to keep Thompson rested throughout the year.

  • Ilya Sorokin G | NYI

Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Stops 22 shots in win Thursday

Sorokin stopped 22 of 23 shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Blackhawks.

Sorokin came within minutes of recording a shutout before Frank Nazar scored with 2:34 remaining in regulation. The Russian netminder was particularly sharp early in the second period, denying Cole Smith on a breakaway during a sequence that required video review to determine whether the puck crossed the goal line. Sorokin has looked excellent to start the season, posting a save percentage of at least .920 in each of his three contests and going 2-1-0 with a 1.01 GAA and .965 save percentage to open the campaign.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Gives up three goals in loss

Soderblom stopped 15 of 18 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Islanders. New York's fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Soderblom surrendered a power-play goal to Bo Horvat late in the first period before allowing two more goals in the second, leaving Chicago facing a three-goal deficit. The Swedish netminder has had a rocky start to the season, going 0-2-0 with a 4-58 GAA and .820 save percentage in his first two outings as the backup behind Spencer Knight. Despite the defeat, Soderblom reached 3,000 career saves with Chicago, becoming the 12th goalie in franchise history to do so.

  • Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Beaten four times Thursday

Luukkonen allowed four goals on 18 shots in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Stars.

Luukkonen endured a difficult outing, finishing with just 14 saves and a .778 save percentage as Buffalo failed to generate any offensive support. Dallas capitalized on its limited chances, and Luukkonen's early-season numbers are concerning. He's yet to post a save percentage above .800 in any of his three starts and has gone 1-2-0 with a .782 save percentage and 4.02 GAA thus far. Given Luukkonen's early-season woes, it wouldn't be surprising if Colton Ellis is in line to see more playing time in the near future.

  • Stars' Jake Oettinger: Posts 26-save shutout

Oettinger stopped all 26 shots he faced in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Sabres.

Oettinger delivered another flawless performance between the pipes, recording a second consecutive shutout while helping Dallas secure a comfortable road victory. Oettinger was beaten four times in the season opener against the Blues, but he's bounced back and has stopped each of the last 39 shots he's faced. Casey DeSmith is a strong backup alternative who can start on any given day, but Oettinger is locked in as the Stars' No. 1 goaltender until further notice.
