Fraser Minten C | BOS
Bruins' Fraser Minten: Secures long-term extension
Minten agreed to terms on a seven-year, $50.4 million contract extension with Boston on Tuesday.
Minten put together a solid 2025-26 campaign in which he racked up 17 goals and 18 assists in 82 regular-season contests. It was the 22-year-old center's first full NHL campaign, but it seems the Bruins aren't too concerned about it being a one-off year. If Minten can secure more opportunities with the man advantage, he should be capable of pushing those career-best numbers even higher in 2026-27.

Jean-Sebastien Dea C | ARI
Jean-Sebastien Dea: Ends playing career
Dea has announced his retirement from professional hockey, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports on Monday.
Dea played in the KHL and DEL for the last three seasons. His last year in the NHL was during the 2022-23 campaign, when he was with the Coyotes. The 32-year-old put up five goals and seven points over 37 career regular-season NHL games.

Shane Wright C | SEA
Kraken's Shane Wright: Turns focus to upcoming season
Wright is fully focused on the Kraken after his trade request didn't lead to a change of scenery this offseason, Josh Frojelin of Emerald City Spectrum reports Friday.
Wright's agent, Kurt Overhardt, told Frojelin that the center is fully committed to Seattle and that is where his focus is heading into the season. That doesn't necessarily rule out a trade in the future. Wright's development with the Kraken has been slow, and he's unlikely to begin the year higher than the third line. The Kraken will wait for a fair price, so this situation appears set to linger into the season, though the team may try to showcase Wright in a larger role to boost his value early in the campaign.

Joel Eriksson Ek C | MIN
Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Healthy ahead of training camp
Eriksson Ek (heel) has skated hard recently and is healthy ahead of training camp, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports Friday.
Eriksson Ek missed the Wild's final five postseason games due to a heel injury, but he's back with the team ahead of training camp. Eriksson Ek appeared in 70 regular-season matchups last year, recording 19 goals, 32 assists, 106 hits, 34 blocked shots and 32 PIM while averaging 19:05 of ice time.

Jonathan Huberdeau C | CGY
Flames' Jonathan Huberdeau: Won't be ready for camp
Huberdeau (hip) will not be available for the start of the Flames' training camp, Eric Francis of Sportsnet reports Friday.
"Yes, he's feeling good and is without the pain that he used to have at all times, so that's the best part," said Calgary general manager Craig Conway, referring to Huberdeau's status. "Now it's just for him to feel 100 percent ready to go into physical contact, game-playing and all that. We believe it's just a matter of when, not if." Huberdeau has been skating, but there is no timeline for his return to game action. While there is no indication the 33-year-old winger will miss Opening Night, fantasy managers probably can't rule that out entirely. If Huberdeau were to miss any time, it could open the door for additional minutes for Yegor Sharangovich or Maxim Tsyplakov.

Brendan Brisson C | TOR
Maple Leafs' Brendan Brisson: Secures one-year pact
Brisson signed a one-year, two-way contract with Toronto on Friday.
Brisson played in just three regular-season games for the Rangers last year, producing one assist, two shots and one hit while averaging 10:35 of ice time per game. Given the Leafs' forward depth, the 24-year-old center could be a fourth-line option at best, though he is more likely to play the bulk of his minutes in the minors.

Tyler Seguin C | DAL
Stars' Tyler Seguin: Skates with team Thursday
Seguin (knee) participated in on-ice activities with the Stars on Thursday.
Seguin missed most of the 2025-26 campaign after undergoing season-ending knee surgery in mid-December, but the expectation was that he'd be available for the start of training camp this fall. The 34-year-old's presence on the ice Thursday suggests that he should be good to go once the Stars officially begin training camp later this month. He hasn't played in more than 27 games in either of the past two seasons, and he's recorded 16 goals, 22 assists, 23 hits, 12 blocked shots and six PIM while averaging 16:26 of ice time across 47 regular-season appearances during that time.

Filip Chytil C | VAN
Canucks' Filip Chytil: Feels ready for 2026-27
Chytil (face) participated in a scrimmage Wednesday and told reporters afterward that he feels good heading into 2026-27, Chris Faber of the Canucks' official site reports.
Chytil's last official game action was Feb. 2. "I feel good. It was long, since I had [an] offseason since February, so I had a lot of time to focus on certain things, and I think it went well off the ice and on the ice as well," said Chytil. "I'm ready for [the] season." While his lengthy injury history will remain a concern -- he's played in a total of just 78 games over the last three campaigns -- Chytil is projected to see at least middle-six minutes for the Canucks. His best year was 2022-23 with the Rangers, as he put up 45 points in 74 regular-season contests, and getting back to that level would make him a decent in-season pickup for fantasy managers.

Robert Thomas C | STL
Blues' Robert Thomas: Named captain
Thomas is set to become the 25th captain in Blues history, the team announced Wednesday.
Thomas is taking over for Brayden Schenn, who was traded to the Islanders in March. The 27-year-old Thomas is entering the fourth campaign of his eight-year, $65 million contract, so he's set to wear the 'C' for years to come. He had 25 goals and 64 points in 64 regular-season outings in 2025-26, which made it his fifth straight regular season with over 60 points.

Jonathan Marchessault C | NSH
Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: Expected to be ready for camp
Marchessault (undisclosed) is expected to be available for training camp, Nick Kieser of Lower Broad Hockey reports Tuesday.
General manager Chris MacFarland believes the Predators will have all their players ready for camp. Marchessault will be trying to bounce back from a tough 2025-26, in which he was limited to 31 points in 62 regular-season contests. The 35-year-old winger can be tentatively penciled in for a top-six role with power-play time, but he could slide to the third line and second power-play unit if some of Nashville's prospects take a big leap heading into the year.
