  • Kings' Lane Pederson: Lands on waivers

Pederson was placed on waivers by the Kings on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Pederson signed a two-year, two-way agreement with the Kings in early July, and he'll begin the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Ontario if he clears waivers. Across 63 minor-league appearances with Lehigh Valley last year, he recorded 23 goals, 25 assists and 44 PIM.

  • Blue Jackets' Adam Fantilli: Ends contract dispute

Fantilli agreed to terms on a six-year, $82.5 million contract with Columbus on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Fantilli has reached the 50-point threshold in each of the previous two seasons, including setting new personal bests last year in assists (35), points (59) and power-play points (13). The 21-year-old center will have to get up to speed quickly, but he should be a near lock for a top-six role Opening Night against the Sabres on Oct. 1.

  • Canucks' Matthew Stienburg: Waived Thursday

Stienburg was put on waivers by Vancouver on Thursday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Stienburg had two goals, three points and 11 PIM in eight regular-season appearances with AHL Colorado in 2025-26. The 25-year-old is likely to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

  • Maple Leafs' Ryan Tverberg: Waived by Toronto

Tverberg was waived by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Tverberg signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs in early July and will head to AHL Toronto for the start of the regular season if he clears waivers. Across 63 regular-season appearances with the Marlies last year, he logged 15 goals, 21 points and 36 PIM.

  • Maple Leafs' Brendan Brisson: Waived by Toronto

Brisson was placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Brisson agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Maple Leafs in early September after he wasn't tendered a qualifying offer from the Rangers during the offseason. He'll be left off the Maple Leafs' Opening Night roster and will head to AHL Toronto if he clears waivers.

  • Maple Leafs' Vinni Lettieri: On waivers

Lettieri was waived by Toronto on Thursday, according to James Mirtle of The Athletic.

Lettieri came up big for AHL Toronto during its 2026 Calder Trophy-winning run, supplying 11 goals and 26 points in 25 playoff outings. He also had 14 goals and 42 points in 55 regular-season appearances with AHL Toronto in 2025-26. Although the 31-year-old is great in the minors, he's unlikely to spend much time, if any, in the NHL this season.

  • Mason Shaw C | WPG

    Wild's Mason Shaw: Hits waivers

Shaw was put on waivers by Minnesota on Thursday.

Shaw had 15 goals, 44 points and 67 PIM in 71 regular-season outings with AHL Manitoba in 2025-26. The 27-year-old hasn't played in the NHL since 2023-24 when he had a goal, three points and 34 PIM in 20 regular-season outings with Minnesota.

  • Wild's Dylan Gambrell: Put on waivers

Gambrell was placed on waivers by Minnesota on Thursday.

Gambrell had 10 goals and 36 points in 35 regular-season appearances with AHL Iowa in 2025-26. The 30-year-old is likely to spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

  • Matt Duchene C | DAL

Stars' Matt Duchene: Won't suit up in preseason finale

Duchene will not play in Friday's preseason finale against the Wild, Stars TV host Brien Rea reports.

Duchene continues to deal with an undisclosed injury that has limited his ability to get on the ice during camp. While it sounds like the veteran center will start practicing soon, at this point, fantasy players may want to consider him questionable for the season opener versus St. Louis on Oct. 2.

  • Maple Leafs' Steven Lorentz: Headed to waivers

Lorentz will be placed on waivers by the Maple Leafs on Thursday, per Chris Johnston.

After playing a sizable role for the Maple Leafs in the 2025-26 campaign, Lorentz is currently on his way to the AHL via the waiver wire. The 30-year-old center appeared in 71 regular-season games during the 2025-26 campaign, where he posted seven goals, 18 points, 70 shots on net, 154 hits and 48 blocked shots. While the Leafs would ideally like to retain his rights in the AHL, he has proven to be somewhat effective in a bottom-six role at the NHL level, so there's a chance he could be scooped up over the next 24 hours. If he clears waivers, he'll likely open the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Toronto.
