  • Lions' Jameson Williams: Seven targets in preseason opener

Williams caught two of seven targets for 18 yards in Friday's 21-16 preseason win over the Giants.

The Lions dialed up a few deep balls to Williams, but he and backup quarterback Nate Sudfeld couldn't get on the same page. After missing most of his rookie season while recovering from a torn ACL, Williams is expected to stretch the field for Detroit with his speed once his six-game suspension for gambling expires. The 2022 first-round pick should continue to be featured heavily throughout the preseason.

  • Drake London WR | ATL

Falcons' Drake London: Set to play preseason Week 2

London is expected to play in next Friday's preseason game against the Bengals, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

Along with the rest of the Falcons' first-team offense, London didn't suit up for Friday's exhibition opener in Miami. That script will flip in preseason Week 2 as he prepares to build off a 72-866-4 line on 117 targets from his rookie 2022 campaign.

  • Jalin Hyatt WR | NYG

Giants' Jalin Hyatt: Forgettable NFL debut

Hyatt caught his only target for minus-4 yards in Friday's 21-16 preseason loss to the Lions.

Hyatt was tackled well behind the line of scrimmage on his only touch in his NFL debut. The rookie third-round pick out of Tennessee has reportedly been impressing with his speed in practice while mixing in with the starters. Perhaps Hyatt's playmaking ability will shine through more in New York's second preseason game against the Panthers.

  • Isaiah Hodgins WR | NYG

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Part of crowded WR room

Hodgins caught his only target for 13 yards in Friday's 21-16 preseason loss to the Lions.

Hodgins caught a pass from backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor on New York's second possession. The 24-year-old wide receiver excelled after being picked up by the Giants midseason in 2022, scoring five touchdowns in 10 games between the regular season and playoffs. Hodgins could pick up where he left off as the No. 1 wide receiver for the Giants in 2023, but he faces plenty of competition for playing time in a receiving corps that also features holdovers Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard (knee) and Wan'Dale Robinson (knee), rookie third-round pick Jalin Hyatt and offseason signing Parris Campbell.

  • Robbie Chosen WR | WAS

Dolphins' Robbie Chosen: Dealing with injury

Coach Mike McDaniel said Chosen didn't play in Friday's 19-3 preseason defeat to the Falcons due to an undisclosed injury, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

In his first chance to suit up for the Dolphins, Chosen was held out along with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle (midsection) and Braylon Sanders (lower body). Meanwhile, fellow WR Braxton Berrios departed early due to an unknown health concern of his own. As a result, Miami's healthy wide receivers at the moment are Hill, Cedrick Wilson, River Cracraft and Erik Ezukanma, among others.

  • Jayden Reed WR | GB

Packers' Jayden Reed: Two catches in NFL debut

Reed caught both of his targets for 20 yards and added a six-yard punt return in Friday's 36-19 preseason win over the Bengals.

Reed caught one pass from starting quarterback Jordan Love and another from backup Sean Clifford. The rookie wide receiver also drew a pass interference penalty. It was encouraging to see Reed mix in with Love and the starters in his NFL debut, and the 2023 second-round pick out of Michigan State is projected to occupy a top-three role in Green Bay's receiving corps come the regular season. Reed will likely see plenty of action in the Packers' second preseason game against the Patriots on Aug. 19.

  • Elijah Moore WR | PHI

Browns' Elijah Moore: Injures ribs Friday

Moore sustained a rib injury during Friday's preseason contest against the Commanders, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

After the Browns' first possession, Moore went to the sideline tent before going to the locker room, where X-rays were returned negative. No matter, he didn't return to the game, finishing with an 18-yard run and a six-yard catch. Moore's next chance for exhibition action will arrive Thursday at Philadelphia.

  • Romeo Doubs WR | NE

Packers' Romeo Doubs: Scores in preseason opener

Doubs caught both of his targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 36-19 preseason win over the Bengals.

Doubs capped Green Bay's second drive with a nine-yard touchdown catch, and the team's starters on offense subbed out after that point. The second-year wide receiver is expected to occupy a starting role in 2023 in an inexperienced Green Bay offense. Doubs will look to build on this encouraging performance in the team's second preseason game against the Patriots.

  • Jaylen Waddle WR | DEN

Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Dealing with midsection injury

Coach Mike McDaniel said after Friday's 19-3 preseason loss to the Falcons that Waddle is "fine" following a midsection injury he suffered earlier this week, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

Waddle left Wednesday's joint practice with Atlanta due to a health concern that McDaniel now has clarified. It's thus no surprise that Miami held out Waddle along with fellow wide receiver Tyreek Hill in its exhibition opener. The team likely will exercise caution with Waddle with the aim to get him some preseason action in one of its two final games before Week 1.

  • Packers' Christian Watson: Quiet in preseason opener

Watson caught two of three targets for six yards in Friday's 36-19 preseason win over the Bengals.

Watson played the first two drives along with other starters such as quarterback Jordan Love, but he posted a quiet performance while fellow second-year wide receiver Romeo Doubs got into the end zone on Green Bay's second drive. Watson still projects as Love's No. 1 target come the regular season, and they'll have a chance to improve their chemistry in Green Bay's second preseason game, Aug. 19 against the Patriots.
