  • Penny Hart WR | ATL

Falcons' Penny Hart: Getting concussion check

Coach Arthur Smith said after Friday's 13-13 preseason tie with the Bengals that Hart was examined for a head injury during the game, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.

On Hart's only target of the night, he fell hard on his helmet while attempting to haul in a pass from Taylor Heinicke on fourth-and-2 early in the fourth quarter. Hart was wobbly on his feet as he made his way to the sideline before going to the locker room. Smith was unsure if Hart has been diagnosed with a concussion, but his status now will be one to monitor ahead of Atlanta's preseason finale on Thursday, Aug. 24 against the Steelers.

  • Isaiah Hodgins WR | NYG

Giants' Isaiah Hodgins: Leading receiver in win

Hodgins caught two of four targets for 45 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Panthers.

He played most of the first half and led the Giants in receiving yards, catching one pass each from starting quarterback Daniel Jones and backup Tyrod Taylor. Hodgins had a strong finish to 2022 as he established abundant chemistry with Jones, but New York's offseason additions to its wideout corps -- including free agent Parris Campbell and third-round pick Jalin Hyatt -- give him plenty of competition for targets this season.

  • Jonathan Mingo WR | DAL

Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: One grab against Giants

Mingo caught one of two targets for 15 yards in Friday's preseason loss to the Giants.

His first grab of the preseason came on the Panthers' second drive, as the rookie wideout caught a slant from Bryce Young with enough yardage for a first down, bounced off a would-be tackler and gained some extra real estate. Mingo's size and athletic profile made him a second-round pick in 2023, but after two quiet exhibition performances, he hasn't shown much to indicate he's ready to turn those traits into consistent NFL production.

  • Drake London WR | ATL

Falcons' Drake London: Makes acrobatic catch

London recorded two receptions on three targets for 33 yards in Friday's 13-13 tie against the Bengals in preseason action.

London played for one offensive drive but still made a significant impact. The highlight of his performance came on a long third down when Desmond Ridder lofted a ball down the left sideline that London out-jumped DJ Turner to haul in. London is in line to lead the Atlanta pass-catching corps alongside Kyle Pitts when the regular season kicks off against Carolina.

  • Khadarel Hodge WR | ATL

Falcons' KhaDarel Hodge: Injures ankle Friday

Hodge won't return to Friday's preseason game against the Bengals due to an ankle injury, NFL.com reports.

On his only catch of the evening, a seven-yarder, Hodge was twisted to the ground and had some difficulty getting to the sideline. Once he was there, he was examined by the Falcons' training staff before he was ruled out. The severity of the injury isn't known but likely will become more clear after the team does a battery of tests.

  • Colts' D.J. Montgomery: Signs with Indianapolis

The Colts signed Montgomery on Friday.

Montgomery will head to Indianapolis after spending part of last season on Houston's practice squad. The 26-year-old last appeared in an NFL game in 2021, when he caught three of six targets for 36 yards in three games for the Jets. Montgomery will likely find himself competing for a spot on the Colts' practice squad.

  • Giants' Collin Johnson: Ruled out Friday

Johnson (knee) will be inactive for Friday's game against the Panthers, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Johnson injured his knee during last week's 21-16 loss to Detroit and will sit out New York's second preseason tilt. The 25-year-old will now look to get healthy ahead of the team's preseason finale versus the Jets next Saturday.

  • Cole Beasley WR | NYG

Giants' Cole Beasley: Not in uniform

Beasley (leg) is not in uniform for Friday's exhibition game against the Panthers, Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports.

Beasley has been sidelined since Tuesday with a leg injury. Considering the veteran pass catcher is on the bubble regarding making the final 53-man roster, his absence indicates the leg injury is not minor. Still, there is another preseason game remaining, so he will have more opportunities to make an impression throughout camp.

  • Derek Wright WR | CAR

Panthers' Derek Wright: Expected to miss Friday's game

Wright (knee) is likely going to be sidelined for Friday's game against the Giants, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reports.

Wright has been sidelined since injuring his knee in Carolina's preseason opening contest. He is competing for an opportunity to provide depth at receiver on the Panthers' active roster this season but is likely on the outside looking in as of now. Thus, a return to health sooner than later will be beneficial for his chances.

  • Malik Turner WR | SF

Colts' Malik Turner: Lands on IR

The Colts placed Turner (undisclosed) on injured reserve Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.

The nature of Turner's injury is not known at this time. He is now in line to miss the remainder of the 2023 season unless he and the Colts come to terms on an injury settlement down the line. The 27-year-old was competing for a role providing depth at wide receiver before this move.
