  • Jakeem Grant WR | ATL

Browns' Jakeem Grant: Done for season

Grant suffered a ruptured patellar tendon during Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs and is out for the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Grant was expected to be Cleveland's return man this season, but instead, the veteran wideout will need to spend the 2023 campaign recovering. The Browns will now likely turn to Donovan Peoples-Jones and Jerome Ford to handle those duties.

  • Freddie Swain WR | CHI

    Freddie Swain: Gets let go

Swain was cut by the Eagles on Sunday, Andrew DiCecco reports.

Swain had just joined the team Wednesday after being let go by the Dolphins earlier in August. The Florida product will now have to work to find a new opportunity, likely on a team's practice squad after 53-man rosters are set.

  • Britain Covey WR | PHI

Eagles' Britain Covey: Returns to practice

Covey (hamstring) is practicing Sunday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Covey's hamstring issue has held him back for a couple of weeks now. His return comes at a good time with final cuts due Tuesday as teams set their 53-man rosters. The Utah product operated as the team's return man last season, and he'll continue to work to earn that role again in 2023.

  • Greg Ward WR | IND

Eagles' Greg Ward: Not yet recovered

Ward (ankle) remains sidelined Sunday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

Ward will miss another practice as he continues to work to recover from an ankle injury. The 28-year-old may be on the bubble regarding the team's final 53-man roster, so a return to practice with cut day looming would likely be beneficial to the Houston product.

  • Mack Hollins WR | NE

Falcons' Mack Hollins: Locked in as No. 2 WR

Hollins didn't play in Atlanta's preseason finale against the Steelers.

Hollins, along with the rest of Atlanta's starters, only played in Week 2 of the preseason. The wideout caught both of his targets for 20 yards during the exhibition versus Cinncinati, and his exclusion from the preseason finale suggests he's a coveted piece of the Falcons offense moving forward. While Hollins is the No. 2 wideout on the depth chart, he's likely to operate as the fourth pass-catching option behind Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson. Given Desmond Ridder's presumed hiccups as a first-time starter and Hollins' current standing in the offense, it'll be difficult for the wideout to replicate the career-high numbers (57 catches on 94 targets for 690 yards and four TDs) he set with Las Vegas last year, which he was able to accrue due to injuries to Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow and Davante Adams.

  • Tyler Adams WR | IND

    Tyler Adams: Cut by Indianapolis

The Colts waived Adams on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Adams rejoined the Colts on Aug. 17 after being waived by the team in June. He failed to record a catch in two preseason games and will have to look elsewhere for an opportunity to catch on to a practice squad.

  • Jaydon Mickens WR | IND

Jaydon Mickens: Let go by New York

The Giants released Mickens on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Mickens signed a reserve/future contract with the Giants in January after joining their practice squad in December. He managed to record four catches for 41 yards in three preseason games but it wasn't enough to crack into a crowded wide receiver room headlined by Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton and Parris Campbell.

  • Browns' Marquise Goodwin: Set to come off NFI list

Head coach Kevin Stefanski said Goodwin (illness) will come off the non-football illness list Sunday and return to practice, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Goodwin was placed on the active/non-football illness list by the Browns in mid-July after he was diagnosed with blood clots in his legs and lungs. Given the issue potentially was career ending, it's a great sign to see the wideout cleared to resume football activities. However, Goodwin still has an uphill battle to land a spot on the initial 53-man roster, as the only locks at wideout are Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, Donovan Peoples-Jones and Cedric Tillman, leaving Goodwin to compete with David Bell, Jaelon Darden (leg), Anthony Schwartz (hamstring) and Austin Watkins.

  • Isaiah Coulter WR | BUF

Isaiah Coulter: Let go by Buffalo

The Bills waived Coulter on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Coulter joined Buffalo on a reserve/future contract in January after being let go by the Cardinals. He missed a portion of training camp with a knee injury and failed to record a catch across the Bills' three preseason games.

  • David Sills WR | TB

Giants' David Sills: Top receiver in preseason finale

Sills caught six of nine targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's exhibition loss to the Jets.

The Giants sat out most of their starters in the contest, giving Sills ample opportunity to make a final case for a roster spot. He performed well, leading the team in targets, catches and yards while hauling in the only receiving TD on a 30-yard heave from Tommy DeVito with less than a minute left in the game. Despite the standout performance, Sills remains a long shot for a spot on the initial 53-man roster given the Giants' crowded receiver room.
