  • C.J. Saunders WR | ATL

C.J. Saunders: Finds practice squad spot

Saunders was picked up by the Falcons' practice squad Thursday, Scott Bair of the team's official site reports.

Saunders was waived by the Panthers on Saturday after failing to secure a depth spot in a crowded wide receiver room. He'll stay in the NFC South and look to make an impression in Atlanta.

  • Marquez Callaway: Finds practice squad spot

Callaway was picked up by the Raiders' practice squad Thursday.

Callaway spent his first three seasons in New Orleans on both the practice squad and active roster. He accumulated 83 receptions for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns across 14 regular-season games. He spent OTAs and training camp in Denver but failed to make the final roster. He will now stay in the AFC West and look to make an impression in Vegas.

  • Racey McMath WR | DAL

Racey McMath: Added to practice squad

McMath was added to the Colts' practice squad Thursday.

McMath spent OTAs and training camp with the Titans before failing to make it through final roster cuts. Overall, he suited up for 14 games with Tennessee over the previous two years and compiled four receptions for 48 yards, one carry for four yards and seven special-teams tackles in the process. He will now stay in the division and look to acclimate to the Colts' playbook.

  • Lance McCutcheon: Joins Houston's practice squad

McCutcheon was added to the Texans' practice squad Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

McCutcheon was let go by the Rams on Monday after suiting up for 10 games in Los Angeles last season. He'll now look to acclimate to the Texans' playbook as he awaits an opportunity to be called up to the active roster.

  • Patriots' Kendrick Bourne: Could claim key role

With Tyquan Thornton (shoulder) having been placed on IR, Bourne approaches the coming season in a Patriots wideout corps that also features JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker and rookies Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte.

In that context, Bourne has a chance to claim a key role in New England's passing offense out of the gate, though his target volume could fluctuate as long as his fellow key pass catchers (a group that also includes TEs Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki) remain healthy. Still, after catching 35 passes in 16 games last season, Bourne, who recorded 55 catches in 2021, has an opportunity to see an uptick in production in 2023, and if that happens he could reemerge as a factor in deeper PPR formats.

  • Cooper Kupp WR | SEA

Rams' Cooper Kupp: Suffers 'setback' with hamstring

Coach Sean McVay said Thursday that Kupp had a "setback" with his hamstring injury and now is considered "day-to-day," Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network reports.

Kupp has been dealing with a balky hamstring since an Aug. 1 practice, which kept him out for the Rams' entire preseason slate. He was able to return to drills on Aug. 21 and had been ramping up his activity level in the meantime, but he now is tending to what McVay terms a "muscle strain." While being deemed day-to-day generally is a decent sign for Kupp's chances to suit up Sunday, Sept. 10 at Seattle, offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur used those exact words when discussing the wide receiver's health back on Aug. 4. As a result, Kupp's status will be one to monitor closely during Week 1 prep.

  • Bears' Velus Jones: Back at practice

Jones (undisclosed) was a full participant at Thursday's practice, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Jones was considered a fringe roster candidate throughout training camp, and although he has been nursing an undisclosed injury, he was ultimately able to show enough to make the team. While he is only expected to be a depth receiver this season, the second-year speedster is in line to return both punts and kicks.

  • Patriots' Tyquan Thornton: Placed on IR

The Patriots placed Thornton (shoulder) on injured reserve Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

As a result, Thornton will miss at least the first four weeks of the upcoming campaign while he recovers from a shoulder issue. In his absence, the Patriots' WR corps will be led by the veteran trio of JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker and Kendrick Bourne, with 2023 sixth-rounders Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte on hand to work in complementary roles in the team's passing game out of the gate this season.

  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: Never on trading block

Jacksonville's general manager Trent Baalke indicated Thursday that "(Parker) was never on the trade block. We were never actively shopping him," John Shipley of SI.com reports.

Baalke later admitted a few teams did reach out about Washington's status, although no offers were made that moved the needle. The Jaguars are deep at receiver heading into the season, which leaves the team's sixth-round pick relatively buried on the depth chart. He will have plenty of time to continue acclimating to the playbook going forward, but it remains to be seen how big of a role, if any, he will have when the season kicks off.

  • Dax Milne WR | CAR

Commanders' Dax Milne: Still dealing with injury

Milne (groin) is not practicing Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Milne has been battling the injury for over a week now and it's not clear how much more time he may miss, or if his status for Week 1 against the Cardinals is in doubt. The BYU product is currently No. 5 on the team's positional depth chart at wide receiver, so his potential absence wouldn't likely have any impact on fantasy rosters.
