  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: Impressive TD grab in Week 1 win

Washington secured five of six targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' 34-10 win over the Browns on Sunday. He also returned one punt for minus-5 yards.

Washington led the Jaguars in all of receptions, receiving yards and targets, and his impressive 30-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter kicked off a prolific afternoon for Jacksonville's offense. Washington, whose late-season surge in 2025 has put him in line for an extension, certainly benefits from the strong start to the new season in that regard, and he should remain a focal point despite a tough Week 2 road matchup against the Broncos next Sunday.

  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: Unlikely to sign extension soon

Washington is unlikely to agree to a contract extension with Jacksonville before the start of the season, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

With no extension imminent, Washington appears set to play out the current season without a new deal in place. The Jaguars wide receiver is coming off a career year, and Wolfe's report indicates talks explored a contract in Michael Wilson's range (three years, $75M) before stalling for now. Washington is in the final season of his four-year rookie contract, and it's still possible an extension gets worked out after Week 1.

  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: Returning punts for now

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen confirmed Friday that Washington will be the team's primary punt returner to start the season, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.

Coen also mentioned wanting to give Travis Hunter a chance in the return game, but it sounds like that's more of a project than a right-now possibility. In the meantime, Washington's ample experience on punt returns makes him the clear best choice for a role that's extremely important on a per-snap basis. It's only a few snaps per game, of course, but they are high-risk plays for injuries, and the fantasy payoff in most leagues is unlikely to be more than a six-point splash once per season. The good news for Washington's fantasy managers is that there's plenty of recent history of full-time starting wideouts also handling punt returns, including Antonio Brown and Tyreek Hill. While obviously in a different category athletically, Washington offers considerable breakout appeal after his huge finish to last season.

  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: No preseason snaps

Washington didn't make an appearance during the Jaguars' three-game preseason slate.

Not long after he sat out Jacksonville's exhibition opener on Aug. 15, Washington missed a week of practice due to an undisclosed injury before retaking the field during a joint session with the Buccaneers on Aug. 25, so his lack of in-game activity isn't much a surprise. After reeling off three 100-yard receiving efforts in his final four appearances, including playoffs, of the 2025 campaign, he entered the offseason on a high note and is also considered the team's most sought-after WR in fantasy terms ahead of Brian Thomas, Jakobi Meyers (hand) and Travis Hunter.

  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: Involved in joint practice

Washington (undisclosed) is taking part in Tuesday's joint practice with the Buccaneers, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Jaguars labeled Washington as day-to-day last week while he dealt with an undisclosed injury, but he took part in a walk-through session Sunday and is seemingly operating with no restrictions in the first of two joint practices with the Buccaneers. Washington made a big play early in Tuesday's session during red-zone drills, going high over cornerback Jacob Parrish to bring down a lob pass in the end zone.

  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: Present for Sunday's walkthrough

Washington (undisclosed) was spotted at Sunday's walkthrough, Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union reports.

It remains to be seen what Washington's participation level will be, but the wideout was sporting a helmet ahead of the walkthrough portion of the no pads session. Washington had been viewed as day-to-day with an unspecified issue, with his return to the field Sunday, in any capacity, a good sign ahead of the Jaguars' Friday preseason finale against the Buccaneers. Even if Washington practices fully before then, there's still a decent chance he'll be held out of the contest along with other key starters.

  • Jaguars' Parker Washington: Should resume practicing next week

Washington (undisclosed) is expected to return to practice next week, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Washington hasn't been practicing this week but is merely considered day-to-day, with earlier reports also suggesting a quick return was in order. While unlikely to play in Friday's preseason game against Carolina, the wideout should be back at practice not long after.
