Zavier Scott RB | MIN
Zavier Scott: Joins Vikings' practice squad
The Vikings signed Scott to their practice squad Thursday.
Scott fell short of making the Colts' initial 53-man roster before inking a deal to join the Vikings' practice squad Thursday. The Maine product was used all over the field during his final collegiate season in 2022, rushing 39 times for 371 yards and four touchdowns while also catching 42 passes for 434 yards and an additional touchdown.

Deon Cain WR | BUF
Deon Cain: Dropped by Buffalo
Cain was cut from the Bills' practice squad Thursday.
The Clemson product signed with the Bills' practice squad Wednesday but has already been dropped to make room for Jalen Virgil. Cain last appeared in a regular-season game in 2020 with the Steelers, playing just 10 offensive snaps and failing to record a stat.

Robbie Chosen WR | WAS
Robbie Chosen: Back in Magic City
The Dolphins signed Chosen to the practice squad Thursday.
Chosen appeared in nine regular-season games for the Dolphins in 2023, during which he accrued four catches (on six targets) for 126 yards and one touchdown. He signed with the 49ers in early August to battle for a depth wide receiver spot, but he was ultimately left off the final 53-man roster. Chosen's familiarity with the Dolphins' offense should provide him an opportunity to be elevated to the active roster at some point during the upcoming season.

Johnny Wilson WR | PHI
Eagles' Johnny Wilson: Still in concussion protocols
Wilson was absent from Eagles' practice Thursday as he remains in the league's concussion protocols, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Wilson has been in protocols since Aug. 13 after sustaining a concussion during the Eagles' joint practice with the Patriots. That kept him out of the two remaining preseason games and will keep him out of practice until he is able to pass the necessary benchmarks set by the league. It's unclear whether Wilson will be cleared ahead of the Eagles' regular-season opener against the Packers on Sept. 6. The rookie sixth-round pick is currently slated as Philadelphia's fourth wide receiver on the depth chart behind A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and new acquisition Jahan Dotson.

Jalen Coker WR | CAR
Jalen Coker: Brought back by Carolina
Coker signed with the Panthers' practice squad Thursday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Coker fell victim to the Panthers' waiver claims, having made the team's initial 53-man roster before being waived Wednesday. However, he's returned to Carolina's practice squad and could very well be elevated to the team's active roster at some point this season.

Xavier Johnson WR | CIN
Xavier Johnson: H-Town bound
Johnson signed with the Texans' practice squad Thursday.
Johnson was dropped by Buffalo on Tuesday, but he's already found a new home on the Texans' practice squad. The Ohio State product went undrafted this past offseason after recording 13 receptions for 178 yards during his final collegiate season.

Devaughn Vele WR | NO
Broncos' Devaughn Vele: Ready for game action
Vele "appears ready for game action" as a rookie, and his development is what ultimately led to his former teammate Tim Patrick's release, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
Vele impressed throughout the summer, and according to Kosmider, was the "surprise star of camp" that was "good for at least one daily highlight play." Though Patrick's release came as a bit of a surprise, it was Vele's growth that ultimately allowed the Broncos' coaching staff to move on from the veteran. At 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Vele fits the mold of a bigger, physical wide receiver that the Broncos want on their roster as they try to establish a strong rushing attack. Head coach Sean Payton praised the rookie for his versatility, calling him an "outstanding blocker." Despite entering his first season as a pro, it appears the 26-year-old Utah product could be in line to see playing time as a depth option in a receiver corps headlined by Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims and Josh Reynolds.

Gunner Olszewski WR | NYG
Giants' Gunner Olszewski: Hopeful for Week 1
Head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that Olszewski (groin) is heading in "the right direction" and should be ready for the Giants' regular-season opener against the Vikings on Sept. 8, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Olszewski missed all of summer minicamp after suffering a foot injury during OTAs. He was cleared at the start of training camp, but he sustained a groin injury during practice Aug. 17 and has been limited in his participation since then. Olszewski is expected to serve as the Giants' primary returner for the regular season, but in his absence, Darius Slayton and Wan'Dale Robinson have been taking reps as punt returners during practice.

Ryan Miller WR | NYG
Ryan Miller: Brought back by Tampa
Miller signed with the Buccaneers' practice squad Thursday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Miller failed to make the Buccaneers' initial 53-man roster Tuesday, but he's now been brought back as a practice-squad player. The Furman product appeared in one game for the Buccaneers last season, recording no stats while playing 14 total snaps (two offensive and 12 on special teams).

Justin Shorter TE | LV
Justin Shorter: Finds work in Vegas
Shorter signed with the Raiders' practice squad Thursday.
It appears that Shorter is switching positions after playing wide receiver throughout college and in the NFL, as he was announced as a tight end when the Raiders signed him to their practice squad Thursday. At 6-foot-4 and 223 pounds with a 4.55 40-yard dash time, Shorter becomes a very intriguing vertical threat at TE if he can make it onto Las Vegas' active roster at any point this season.
