  • Josh Pederson TE | JAC

    Josh Pederson: Cut by Saints

Pederson was waived by the Saints on Friday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Pederson joined the Saints after getting cut by the 49ers earlier in camp. The undrafted rookie was competing for a depth tight end role. He is now set to look for a new landing spot.

  • Travis Kelce TE | KC

Chiefs' Travis Kelce: One grab in win

Kelce secured his only target for eight yards in the Chiefs' 17-10 preseason win over the Cardinals on Friday night.

Kelce had dealt with some minor back tightness earlier in camp, but he dispelled any doubts about his health by suiting up and playing in Friday's contest. The multi-time Pro Bowler will look to achieve the lofty feat of topping last year's career-best numbers of 105 receptions, 1,416 yards and 11 touchdowns while once again serving as one of Patrick Mahomes' top two targets.

  • David Njoku TE | LAC

Browns' David Njoku: Burns multiple corners

Njoku (shoulder) had a good day in camp Friday, beating three separate corners on the second day of the Browns-Giants joint practice, Ellis. L. Williams of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Njoku showed off his athleticism and hesitation moves, getting behind Xavier McKinney and Jabrill Peppers for touchdowns, then running a crisp route against Logan Ryan. The fifth-year tight end missed the preseason opener due to his shoulder injury but he's had a good camp when healthy and appears ready to play preseason Week 2 against the Giants on Sunday afternoon.

  • Taysom Hill QB | NO

Saints' Taysom Hill: To play behind Winston on Monday

Hill will serve as the Saints' second quarterback Monday versus the Jaguars after coach Sean Payton named Jameis Winston the starter for that game, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Hill logged the first three possessions for New Orleans in preseason Week 1, but his stat line (81 yards and one interception) and team output (no points) fell shy of Winston's performance, who led the team to two TDs on five drives. Now Winston will get the first shot with the offense Monday, and more starters will be a part of the action (potentially Alvin Kamara). The competition for the No. 1 QB job between Hill and Winston remains up in the air, but Monday's game could go a long way in Payton's eventual decision.

  • 49ers' George Kittle: Could make appearance Sunday

Kittle likely will suit up for Sunday's preseason game at the Chargers, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

After Friday's joint practice with the Chargers, coach Kyle Shanahan indicated San Francisco starters will play "a quarter, a quarter and a half" Sunday. Clearly, Kittle is among those players, but it wouldn't surprise if Shanahan has a quicker leash with Kittle, the team's top pass catcher, than other first stringers.

  • Dallas Goedert TE | PHI

Eagles' Dallas Goedert: Slated to play Thursday

Goedert is in line to play in Thursday's preseason contest versus the Patriots, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Goedert and fellow tight end Zach Ertz were in the starting lineup in preseason Week 1 and appear poised to reprise their normal roles this week. Last Thursday, Goedert (five snaps on offense) hauled in his only target for 34 yards, while Ertz (seven such plays) had two catches for 20 yards on three targets. The three receptions between the pair doubled as Jalen Hurts' only completions of the game, reflecting Goedert and Ertz' places in the Eagles offense. But rookie first-round wideout DeVonta Smith is slated to make his pro debut Thursday, and No. 1 RB Miles Sanders likely will be out there, too, so the TEs will have additional competition for targets.

  • Hunter Henry TE | NE

Patriots' Hunter Henry: Not expected to play Thursday

Henry (shoulder) isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, Andrew Callahan of Boston Herald reports.

The same applies to fellow TEs Jonnu Smith (ankle) and Matt LaCosse, which should result in Devin Asiasi being busy Thursday night. Henry has been making progress since suffering a shoulder injury earlier this month, but it's unclear if he'll make his game debut with the Patriots before Week 1 of the regular season.

  • Jonnu Smith TE | GB

Patriots' Jonnu Smith: Expected to sit vs. Eagles

Smith (ankle) isn't expected to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, Andrew Callahan of Boston Herald reports.

The same applies to Hunter Henry (shoulder) and Matt LaCosse. As a result, Devin Asiasi could be busy Thursday, while fullback Jakob Johnson could also see some snaps in two-TE sets versus the Eagles.

  • Ethan Wolf TE | NO

Saints' Ethan Wolf: Participating in team drills

Wolf (ankle) participated in team drills during Wednesday's practice, Sean Fazende of FOX 8 WVUE-TV reports.

While Wolf missed practice time during the start of training camp because of an ankle injury, he logged seven offensive snaps during New Orleans' preseason opener last weekend. Since it doesn't appear that he's suffered any sort of setback since, the Tennessee product seems set to make another preseason appearance Monday against the Jaguars.

  • T.J. Hockenson TE | MIN

Lions' T.J. Hockenson: Out for second preseason game

Hockenson (undisclosed) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against Pittsburgh but should ramp up his practice involvement next week, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.

Hockenson left practice early Aug. 10 and missed the Lions' preseason opener last Friday. It sounds like he'll have time to get ready for the season opener, with perhaps some chance for an appearance in the third and final preseason game Aug. 27 against Indianapolis. Given the unimpressive state of Detroit's wideout room, Hockenson remains the favorite to lead the team in Week 1 targets.
