  • Darren Waller TE | CAR

Raiders' Darren Waller: Returning to practice

Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said Waller (hamstring) will practice Wednesday, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Waller missed most of training camp and all of the preseason, seemingly practicing only a few times since late July. There's also been talk of him desiring a new contract, though it isn't necessarily a factor in Waller's availability. He'll have a week and a half to get ready for the Raiders' season opener against the Chargers on Sept. 11.

  • Giants' Daniel Bellinger: Takes another step

Bellinger is making progress in the concussion protocol, with his work at Wednesday's practice including running on the side, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Bellinger suffered the concussion Sunday and has another week and a half to get ready for the Giants' Sept. 11 season opener against the Titans. The fourth-round rookie worked with the starting offense throughout the preseason and appears to be the top option in arguably the weakest tight-end room in the league.

  • Matt Bushman TE | KC

Chiefs' Matt Bushman: Placed on IR

Bushman (collarbone) was placed on injured reserve by the Chiefs on Wednesday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.

Bushman was waived/injured by the Chiefs on Tuesday, but he will now revert to the team's IR. The tight end is now set to miss the entire 2022 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with Kansas City.

  • Devin Asiasi TE | TEN

Bengals' Devin Asiasi: Claimed by Bengals

Asiasi was claimed off waivers by the Bengals on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Asiasi was waived by the Patriots on Tuesday, but he will now head to Cincinnati. The tight end played in one game with New England last year, making him unlikely to carve out a large role in the Bengals' offense. With Drew Sample (knee) and Mitchell Wilcox (ankle) both banged up, Asiasi could open Week 1 as Hayden Hurst's primary backup.

  • Nick Muse TE | ATL

Nick Muse: Signs practice squad deal with MIN

The Vikings signed Muse to their practice squad Wednesday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

As expected, the rookie seventh-round pick lands on the team's practice squad after clearing waivers. The 6-foot-5 tight end caught four passes for 40 yards during the preseason.

  • Trevon Wesco TE | LV

Bears' Trevon Wesco: Claimed by Bears

Wesco was claimed off waivers by the Bears on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Wesco will join the Bears after he was waived by Jets on Tuesday as a part of the team's final roster cuts. The tight end played in 12 games for the Jets last season, catching three passes for 35 yards. Wesco provides the Bears with another depth option behind starter Cole Kmet in 2022.

  • Nick Vannett TE | SEA

    Saints' Nick Vannett: Restructures contract

Vannett restructured his contract with the Saints on Wednesday, dropping his base salary from $2.6 million to $1.035 million, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

The move free's up $1.55 million in cap space for New Orleans, while Vannett sticks around as a third tight end option in 2022. The 29-year-old has proven himself to be an effective run blocker while he also caught nine passes for 133 yards and a touchdown over seven games with the Saints last season.

  • Mike Gesicki TE | CIN

Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Trade rumors shut down

General manager Chris Grier said Wednesday that the Dolphins received two inquiries from other teams about trading for Gesicki this week, but Grier said that the tight end isn't being shopped, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

Gesicki was the subject of trade rumors during the preseason, in part due to conjecture that his limitations as a blocker aren't ideal for new head coach Mike McDaniel's scheme. However, the Dolphins seem intent on keeping the franchise-tagged tight end in house for the 2022 campaign, which sets him up to operate as the No. 3 receiving option for Tua Tagovailoa behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle (lower body). However, Gesicki could lose snaps to No. 2 tight end Durham Smythe, a more capable blocker, on early downs.

  • MyCole Pruitt TE | PIT

MyCole Pruitt: Can't stick with Falcons

Atlanta released Pruitt on Tuesday, Jeff Schultz of The Athletic reports.

Pruitt won't make the Falcons' initial 53-man roster, but the team could keep him in mind as things continue to develop. He appeared in 16 games with the Titans last season and recorded 14 receptions for 145 yards and three touchdowns on 18 targets.

  • Bernhard Seikovits: Can't stick with Cards

Arizona waived Seikovits on Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Seikovits didn't appear in a game last season despite spending the entire year with the Cardinals. A part of the NFL's International Player Pathway Program, Seikovits will work to translate his Austrian football skills into another NFL opportunity.
