  • Nate McCrary RB | GB

    Nate McCrary: Gets let go

McCrary was waived by the Packers on Tuesday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.

McCrary was a late addition during training camp, not joining the team until Aug. 14. According to Wood, the Saginaw Valley State product is likely to join Green Bay's practice squad.

  • Chris Rodriguez: Waived by Washington

The Commanders waived Rodriguez on Tuesday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

A 2023 sixth-round pick, Rodriguez saw a bigger role late last season and averaged 7.4 carries for 37.2 yards over a five-game stretch Weeks 11-16 before an ankle injury brought his rookie campaign to an early end. He came back healthy this spring, but the new coaching staff in Washington seemed to prefer 28-year-old Jeremy McNichols for the No. 3 RB role behind Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler. It won't be surprising if a team in need of a power runner claims the 224-pound Rodriguez off waivers.

  • Mike Boone RB | MIA

Mike Boone: Won't make initial rostery

Boone was released by the Panthers on Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

Boone spent last season in Houston before he was waived and inked a deal with Carolina's practice squad. The veteran running back is considered a candidate to once again join the team's practice squad, assuming he doesn't find a better option elsewhere.

  • Dante Miller RB | NYG

    Dante Miller: Gets cut loose

Miller (hamstring) was waived by the Giants on Tuesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Miller was dealing with a hamstring injury last week but it doesn't appear the team waived him with an injury designation, so he should be considered healthy. The South Carolina product was impressive when he was able to suit up in preseason and camp, making him a likely practice-squad candidate for another team or the Giants themselves, if he clears waivers.

  • Jacob Kibodi RB | CLE

Jacob Kibodi: Let go by New Orleans

The Saints waived Kibodi on Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Undrafted out of Louisiana, Kibodi signed with the Saints as a free agent and rushed 18 times for 71 yards (3.9 YPC) and two touchdowns during the preseason. He also caught four passes for 30 yards. Perhaps Kibodi did enough to warrant a look on the practice squad should he go unclaimed Wednesday.

  • Jaden Shirden RB | CAR

    Jaden Shirden: Cut by Carolina

The Panthers waived Shirden on Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

The undrafted rookie out of Monmouth was unable to crack the roster behind Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders despite rookie Jonathon Brooks (knee, NFI) being out for the first four games of the season. Shirden rushed 17 times for 47 yards (2.8 YPC) during the preseason, adding three catches for 42 additional yards.

  • Saints' Kendre Miller: Will start on IR

Miller (hamstring) has been placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, which will force him to miss at least the first four games of the year, Sean Fazende of Fox 8 New Orleans reports.

Miller hasn't yet resumed practicing since suffering a hamstring injury at the very beginning of training camp, so it's not much of a surprise that he'll be unavailable for the start of the regular season. That could provide Jordan Mims, who led the Saints in rushing yards this preseason, a clearer path to a spot on the 53-man roster. Once officially placed on IR, Miller's first opportunity to return to action will come in Week 5 against Kansas City.

  • Isaiah Spiller: Let go by Chargers

The Chargers are slated to waive Spiller, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The 2022 fourth-rounder had been in contention with Kimani Vidal, Jaret Patterson and Elijah Dotson for a depth role in the backfield behind Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins, but Spiller is the odd man out ahead of Week 1. Once this week's cut-down dust settles, Spiller should either find his way on to another team's roster or end up with a practice squad slot.

  • Jaguars' Keilan Robinson: Placed on IR with return designation

Robinson (toe) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a designation to return.

A new rule allows two players from each team to be designated for return when placed on injured reserve the day of roster cutdowns. Robinson, a rookie fifth-round pick, will now be out for at least the first four games of the season, with Week 5 marking his earliest possible date for an NFL debut. He's been out with a toe injury since late July, unable to practice or play in preseason games. Robinson had only 796 rushing yards and 332 receiving yards across one season at Alabama and three at Texas, but he added 897 yards on 38 kick returns (23.6 average) over his final two years. Robinson then ran a 4.42 40 at the 2024 Combine, confirming his potential as a return man in the NFL.

  • Chuba Hubbard RB | CAR

Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Locked in as September starter

Hubbard's backfield mate Jonathon Brooks (knee) will miss at least the first four games of the regular season, ESPN.com's David Newton reports.

Brooks remains on the PUP list for the start of the season, having yet to practice with the Panthers since they took him 46th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. That leaves Hubbard as an incumbent starter with weak competition for backfield touches, albeit under a new coaching staff led by former Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales. The new coaches seemingly want Miles Sanders to have a role off the bench, but it's unclear if he'll get enough work to put a serious dent in Hubbard's fantasy value while Brooks is sidelined. Hubbard figures to make his 25th career NFL start in Week 1 at New Orleans.
