Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: TD, fumble in Week 1 loss
Hall rushed 16 times for 54 yards and a touchdown while catching five of six targets for 39 yards and losing a fumble in Monday's 32-19 loss to the 49ers.
Hall atoned for a fumble on the Jets' second possession with a three-yard touchdown run on the next drive. He failed to get in on a two-point conversion attempt in the third quarter after the first of Allen Lazard's two touchdown catches cut the deficit to 26-13. The Jets' makeover on the offensive line and the return of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was supposed to help open up more running lanes for Hall, but the jury's still out in that regard, as his unimpressive 3.4 yards per carry Monday can be chalked up to facing an elite 49ers defensive front. Hall got the first 21 touches among Jets running backs before rookie Braelon Allen got a pair on the team's final drive, so Hall should continue to be a three-down workhorse against the Titans in Week 2.

Will Shipley RB | PHI
Eagles' Will Shipley: Barely sees field in first NFL game1
Shipley played just four offensive snaps in his NFL debut Friday against the Packers and did not see a carry or a target.
Shipley, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft, does not appear to be a significant part of the Eagles' offensive gameplan for now, though he did at least play 17 snaps on special teams. If Saquon Barkley were to suffer an injury, Kenneth Gainwell is the more likely option to step into a starting role, having seen the field for 14 offensive snaps on Friday.

Kenneth Gainwell RB | TB
Eagles' Kenneth Gainwell: Minor role in Week 1
Gainwell finished Friday's Week 1 win over the Packers with one carry for two yards and one catch for 10 yards.
Gainwell averaged a career-high 7.1 touches per game last season, but his role is more likely to shrink than grow this year after the Eagles added Saquon Barkley in free agency. It would take an injury to Barkley for Gainwell to earn a fantasy-relevant workload. Gainwell does at least remain the backup to roster for now for those wanting coverage for Barkley, as he played 14 offensive snaps to Will Shipley's four.

Myles Gaskin RB | SEA
Myles Gaskin: Reverts to practice squad
Gaskin reverted to the Vikings' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Gaskin played seven snaps Sunday (two on offense, five on special teams), and he lost three yards on his lone carry. Gaskin served as the No. 3 running back behind Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler, and he would likely reprise that role should he be elevated for Week 2 against the 49ers.

Mike Boone RB | MIA
Mike Boone: Reverts to practice squad
Boone reverted to Carolina's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Despite playing just five offensive snaps in the Panthers' loss at New Orleans in Week 1, Boone carried the football four times, albeit for seven yards. With Jonathon Brooks (knee) still out, it wouldn't be surprising to see Boone called back up for Week 2.

Israel Abanikanda RB | DAL
Jets' Israel Abanikanda: Won't play Monday
Abanikanda (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's game against the 49ers.
The Jets will roll with running backs Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis for the regular-season opener. Abanikanda will have to wait to make his first appearance of the 2024 season until Week 2 against Tennessee.

Jordan Mason RB | MIN
49ers' Jordan Mason: In line to start on MNF
Mason is slated to be the 49ers' starting running back Monday versus the Jets with Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) inactive for the contest, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Mason will step in for McCaffrey for at least one game due to the calf/Achilles injury that has plagued the latter since early August. In 33 regular-season games in his two-year career, Mason has averaged 5.6 YPC on 83 rushes, hauled in three of four targets for 31 yards and scored four rushing TDs. Elsewhere in the backfield, Isaac Guerendo and Patrick Taylor are the 49ers' other available options.

Christian McCaffrey RB | SF
49ers' Christian McCaffrey: Sitting out Week 1
McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) is listed as inactive Monday against the Jets, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.
San Francisco thus won't have McCaffrey for Week 1 as a result of the calf/Achilles injury that he's dealt with since early August. In McCaffrey's stead, the team will turn to Jordan Mason out of the backfield, with Isaac Guerendo and Patrick Taylor on hand for any reps that linger. McCaffrey will turn his focus to being available Sunday at Minnesota.

Christian McCaffrey RB | SF
49ers' Christian McCaffrey: To be inactive Monday
McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) is in line to be inactive Monday against the Jets, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
In a surprise turn of events, the 49ers won't have McCaffrey available due to the combined calf/Achilles injury that he's tended to since early August. Jordan Mason thus should serve as the team's top running back Week 1.
