  • Chris Rodriguez: Reverts to practice squad

Rodriguez reverted to Washington's practice squad Monday.

Rodriguez was elevated to provide extra depth at running back with Austin Ekeler (concussion) out but ended up only playing on special teams. Rodriguez could once again be elevated for Week 5 versus the Browns if Ekeler remains sidelined.

  • Aaron Shampklin: Reverts to practice squad

Shampklin reverted to the Steelers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

The running back was elevated to the active roster with Jaylen Warren (knee) out and played on 13 of 70 offensive snaps, behind Najee Harris' 48 but ahead of Cordarrelle Patterson's nine, though Patterson suffered an ankle injury during the game. Shampklin carried the ball once for five yards.

  • J.J. Taylor RB | HOU

J.J. Taylor: Back to practice squad

Taylor reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

The running back was elevated for Sunday's win over the Jaguars with Joe Mixon (ankle) and Dameon Pierce (hamstring) out. Taylor played on 16 of 75 offensive snaps, carried the ball six times for 18 yards and failed to bring in his only target. Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale led Houston's backfield with 30 and 29 snaps, respectively.

  • Chris Collier: Returns to practice squad

Collier reverted to the Ravens' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Collier was elevated for Sunday's win over the Bills but failed to play a snap in the contest. The running back is eligible to be elevated one more time before the team would have to sign him to the active roster.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Fumbles lone touch on offense

Guerendo lost a fumble on his lone carry Sunday, failing to gain any yards while earning zero targets in a blowout win over the Patriots.

Guerendo had a nightmarish game that resulted in a negative fantasy score for anyone bold enough to play the sparsely-used backup against New England. In an effort to not be too harsh on the rookie, it should be noted that he gained 23 yards on San Francisco's only kickoff return Sunday. While Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) mends on IR, it would take another injury to current starter Jordan Mason to give Guerendo fantasy value in most leagues heading into a Week 5 tilt against Arizona next Sunday.

  • Jeff Wilson RB | MIA

Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Questionable Monday with knee injury

Wilson suffered a knee injury during pregame warmups and now is questionable to play Monday against the Titans.

With Raheem Mostert (chest) sidelined for a third consecutive contest, Wilson and Jaylen Wright were the candidates to handle RB reps behind starter De'Von Achane. Having said that, Wilson now may not get a chance to contribute Week 4. Still, he's been contained to 10 touches for 52 yards from scrimmage in three games this season, meaning he doesn't hold much sway for fantasy purposes.

  • 49ers' Christian McCaffrey: Has tendinitis in both Achilles

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that McCaffrey is tending to tendinitis in both of his Achilles, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. "I think it started in one, and you overcompensate, it went to the other," Shanahan added. "Mainly one of them has just been bothering him, but he's had it in both."

After a recent visit to Germany to meet with a specialist, McCaffrey returned to San Francisco, and a plan for ramping up his activity level was mentioned by Shanahan last Thursday on 104.5 KNBR. In particular, Shanahan noted the 49ers will "start testing it out here sooner rather than later." McCaffrey must remain on injured reserve through at least Week 5, but he's slated to miss more time than that considering he has no timetable to return. A report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network on Sunday relayed that McCaffrey may run on hard ground this week, and there's a chance he'll be back in action by early November. The coming weeks should be key to determining when McCaffrey could be available for his season debut.

  • Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Won't play Monday

Mostert (chest) is inactive for Monday night's game against the Titans.

After logging three straight limited practices, Mostert -- who last played Week 1 -- was listed as questionable ahead of the contest, but he'll remain out Monday and target a potential return to action Sunday, Oct. 6 against the Patriots. In Mostert's continued absence, De'Von Achane is in line to lead Miami's Week 4 backfield, with Jeff Wilson and Jaylen Wright also available to mix in.

  • Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Not a candidate for IR

The Colts are not considering injured reserve as an option for Taylor, who sustained a mild high-ankle sprain during Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers in Week 4, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.

Taylor would have to miss at least four games if he's placed on IR, but it doesn't look like Indianapolis believes the star running back will require that long of a timeframe to complete his recovery. Still, even if Taylor's high-ankle sprain isn't as serious as similar issues he's dealt with in the past, such injuries more often than not result in players having to spend some time on the sideline. Trey Sermon will figure to operate as the Colts' starting running back if Taylor can't suit up on the road against Jacksonville on Sunday, while Tyler Goodson would step into the No. 2 role.

  • Browns' Nyheim Hines: Getting close to return

Hines (knee) is expected to be designated to return from the non-football injury list this week, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Hines has been out of action since the summer of 2023 when he suffered an ACL tear after being hit by a jet ski. However, upon his imminent designation for return, he'll be able to return to the practice field. Considering the time the NC State product has missed, it's highly unlikely he would play as soon as Sunday against the Commanders, but he'll be able to continue getting back up to speed with the team for up to 21 days before a decision on whether to activate him to the 53-man roster has to be made.
