Edwards-Helaire, who remains on the reserve/non-football illness list, is listed as doubtful for Monday's game against the Saints, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Week 5 would have marked the first week in which Edwards-Helaire would have been eligible to return, but it appears as if the team wants the running back to get an additional week of practice in before having him join the active roster. It likely helps that Kareem Hunt (shoulder) seems confident he'll be playing, meaning the Chiefs will have the full backfield complement of Samaje Perine, Carson Steele and Hunt following Isiah Pacheco's multiple-month leg injury.

Hull was elevated from the practice squad Saturday.

The assumption is that Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson will operate in a platoon to replace the injured Jonathan Taylor (ankle), but it was Hull, a 2023 fifth-round pick, that actually opened as the starting running back in 2023 with Taylor sidelined, only to suffer what became a season-ending knee injury a few plays into his rookie campaign. Hull then put together a solid preseason, but he still ultimately was waived in favor of Sermon and Goodson. Fantasy managers should take the Colts at their word when it comes to the running back depth chart, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the second-year pro emerge as an option given Hull's success in a relatively difficult Northwestern offense (1,922 rushing yards across 417 carries over his final two collegiate years).

Ford is expected to be the lead back Sunday against the Commanders, as both Nick Chubb (knee) and Nyheim Hines (knee) have been ruled out.

Ford should be the lead back for a fifth consecutive week, but the Browns have yet to establish a consistent ground attack. Cleveland ranks 28th in run blocking, per Pro Football Focus, and averages 94.8 rushing yards per game (26th). While Ford's per-carry average (5.2) is good, he has just 39 carries through four games.

Gibson is in line to start at running back in the Patriots' Week 5 matchup with the Dolphins, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Head coach Jerod Mayo stated Friday that Rhamondre Stevenson has officially lost his starting role for at least Week 5. The reason for this is due to his fumbling issues through four games. As a result, Gibson is presumably the next man up in New England's backfield. The veteran back has accumulated 155 yards on 29 carries, while hauling in seven passes for 82 yards. While Stevenson is still expected to play a role in the offense as a depth option, Gibson should get an opportunity to shine versus Miami.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Friday on 105.3 The Fan Dallas that Cook (illness) "took some reps yesterday in the team periods."

Cook didn't take part in Wednesday's session due to an illness, so he appears to be past the health concern. However, since the Cowboys signed him to their practice squad Aug. 28, he's remained there for the first four games of the campaign while Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott have combined for 58 carries for 215 yards and one touchdown. That amounts to 3.7 YPC, and the pair also has a cumulative 15-110-1 line on 20 targets. McCarthy added that he doesn't believe Dowdle and Elliott have "been given a lot of opportunities," so it appears as if the status quo for Dallas' backfield will continue to reign Sunday at Pittsburgh and beyond, leaving Cook on the outside looking in for the time being.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said Friday that Stevenson will not start at running back in Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Antonio Gibson will get a turn as the Patriots' lead back Week 5 while the 26-year-old Stevenson slides down a spot on the depth chart after fumbling in each of the Patriots' first four games. According to Mayo, Stevenson is still in line to remain in the game plan versus Miami. Gibson has seen just 29 carries to Stevenson's 65 through four games, but the former is averaging 5.3 yards per tote to Stevenson's 4.1 average.

Akers may be see Dameon Pierce (hamstring) added back to the Texans backfield Sunday against the Bills, as the latter is questionable to play in the contest, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

While Joe Mixon (ankle) will miss a third game in a row this weekend, Pierce put himself in a position to return for the first time since Week 1 after logging a limited practice Friday. If Pierce is active Sunday, he won't necessarily take on a large workload, considering Akers has been preparing for a third consecutive start, per Wilson. However, in such a scenario, Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale would be on hand for any RB reps that don't go to Akers. In Weeks 3 and 4, Akers combined for 22 carries for 74 yards and caught one of three targets for an eight-yard touchdown.

White (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.

With White sidelined versus Denver, Alexander Mattison is slated to lead Las Vegas' Week 5 backfield, with Ameer Abdullah and Dylan Laube on hand to mix in. White now will turn his focus to a potential return to action Sunday, Oct. 13 versus the Steelers.

Mattison is set to operate as Vegas' top running back against the Broncos on Sunday, as Zamir White (groin) has been ruled out, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.

White picked up the groin injury in practice Wednesday and subsequently sat out Thursday and Friday. Even before the injury to White, Mattison had been headed for an uptick in opportunities, as Mattison's averaging 5.1 yards on 17 carries this season compared to White's paltry 3.1 YPC on 49 rushes. Ameer Abdullah and Dylan Laube also could see more touches in White's absence.

Badie (back) won't play Sunday against the Raiders, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Badie's absence isn't surprising considering coach Sean Payton said Wednesday that an IR stint could be on the table for the running back. Badie hasn't practiced since hurting his back in the first half of Denver's Week 4 win over the Jets. His next chance to suit up will be Week 6 against the Chargers.
